Default Habu 32 is here. Jetcat P-20 conversion.

I have been waiting a while for this one to arrive, and first impressions are good.. Really good.
From the moment I saw the prototype pictures I knew that I wanted to try and get a P20 in this little jet. Now that I have it here it looks as if its going to be a tight squeeze, but do-able.
I have asked my builder Marc S if he can get involved and help me out. The idea behind this is that between, Himself, Rich and I we can offer a complete conversion package for the P-20 to make it a drop fit into the Bu32. The main issue that I foresee is the fuel tank. Space is tight around the centre of gravity and ideally this is where I want to keep the majority of the fuel if possible. I find that these small jets are quite noticeably effected when the fuel is not on the c of g. Hopefully we can offer a composite tank that will not only fit where it needs to be, but also carry the fuel for a decent flight time.
I am going to try it at first with the suggested electric retracts, and the wire legs, although Marc and I may look at trying to fit a set of sprung legs at a later date.
I have also decided to try and fit the more powerful JR DS368 servos where possible.
I am not sure if Marc will run a build thread as such.. I would rather if possible he put his efforts into writing one of his great manuals for the conversion kit. But we will be sure to keep you updated as we progress.

Hi Ali,

That looks rather nice, is it all composite, or balsa composite mix, maybe even foam?

Alistair.

Hi Alistair, Photos dont do it justice as they are only on an I phone camera. In real life the finish is superb.
Its a compo fuselage and balsa built up ( Fully sheeted) flying surfaces.

I doubt it. They are too this for a tank to fit and work well, plus the wheel well is in the way.

There is a chance the retracts Rich has designed for the Stinger jet might fit the Bu32, I will check it when the kit arrives tomorrow, these are air up/spring down, trailing link items. Mains have brakes and nose wheel is direct steering.

Looks great Ali.
Hope they make a "Dutch gay orange colour scheme" for this one, haha.

Marc, if you receive the box, please weight the empty airframe.

Ali,

Are you going to try for a full bypass set up, or are the space issues you mentioned to much of a problem to make it practical?

Really does look like a fantastic model! VERY interested to see how this project progresses.

Hope these are as good a flier as the original HABU. I have had and still have so much fun and care-free flying with my HABU. Not to mention when you beat it up, throw in 100 bucks and you have a COMPLETE new airframe with wiring, gear, linkages, etc. Ya Baby.

ALI - Love the pics of your shop - organized and well stocked. Well done mate. [sm=thumbup.gif]

Hi Ali. Really looking forward to this one. I keep missing you at all the Cali jet events ;(

A turbine conversion would be very sought after for this airframe me thinks

Jamie, my remit is to get the P20 in with pipe, tank etc, depending on the outcome and what space is left will determine if its viable to look to make a full bypass system.
Another project I am working on does involve a P20 in a bypass, so we will make one for this so it might, should the option be possible kill two birds........

Ali

Why do you look so supprised in the Photo, or is the furrowed brow a sign of something else, pehaps you have just found out that Audi have brought out a faster R8?

Love the look of the new Habu BTW.

Hi Mike,
I was trying not to look smug at being the first dealer in the Uk to have a Habu 32
There are in fact two R8's faster than mine. The V10 and the new GT. I had to make to with the girly edition I am afraid. A burden that I have to live with I guess, but one that I am willing to cope with

Dennis. How did you guess?

I am a big fan of the Bypass set ups, but I dont believe that the smaller models have as much to gain from the fitment of a bypass as the larger ones do.

I am not sure that this model is going to be that comparable to how the small Habu flies. The 32 is quite a bit larger and heavier. Also its not going to be anywhere as " bounce-able" as the smaller habu. This is more of a real jet as it were.

Didier, I did ask about different colours but it looks like you dutch boys are going to have to wait a while I am afraid.

The latest update I have on delivery dates is that they should start arriving in February.

Ali,

Do you think it will be going for classic jets in December?

From what i can see in the photos the intake ducting is taking up alot of space, maybe they will have to be removed or at least cut back to make room for tankage?
