This sunday we had a test and tune day where the club was flying and we had an open invitation for everyone who wanted to come and try our trainers. About 100 people outside the club joined us and we had the opportunity to fly dual commands with about 30 spectators, where among several girls(!)

During the day I made several flights with the Funjet which worked perfect. 6min flight - 60min of explaining Engine got 135 cycles now which means the Funjet has been doing over 100 flights so far.

340km/h Turbo Funjet Ultra+

After about 120 flights on my Funjet Ultra I decided to switch to another aiframe that would do the engine more justice. I like the way the Funjet flies, the delta configuration makes it very easy to land and easy to get airborn too. So I thought I would't change the concept too much I orderd a Baiojet and a extra FJU decal set for it... my sense of humor

the Kolibri with it's 2" diameter fits perfect, all electronics from the FJU fits too and I only needed 15grams or lead in the nose to get it to ballance. A shampoo bottle houses 500cc of fuel. All up weight 1290grams dry.

Due to a thunderstorm getting very cloe I only made a quick test flight followed by a run with my HowFast data recorder. Without really pushing it I recorded 340kmh / 213mph in a slight upwards going fly by

henke,

I'm always wanted baiojet for my p20 but I'm sure need to cut tail section like fj to get it fit.I should order t25 Then!

im working on fj/p20 now,the dry weight with 360cc tank plus tamjet mini uat is 1270g!!! that way too heavy I'm now sure how I'm going to launch it!

with your 500cc tank you have massive flight time,do you really need to fly that long?

Hi,

A 1270g funjet will fly well but land fast! launch is NO problem, just add upp elevator on a flight mode and you are fine.

the T25 is 55mm diameter and just fits, the P-20 simply is too large. Also adding another 100grams at the back you need to add more weight in the nose. Reading the German forums a P-20 puts out thrust as a T-20. So chooseing a Jetcat P-20 would give you more modifications to make it fit, 200grams more weight (atleast) and less power.

As for the 500cc fueltank I think it will be fine for 6min flights as the Baiojet can handle more full power runns then the Funjet.

Three more flights today, getting used to the new airframe and it does fly really well. I recorded 360kmh / 225mph today.

pics of the engine install as promised.

Another flight today, my friend shot some video with my cellphone. Not the best weather conditions, but again if chooseing 1080p and full screen you can catch the Baiojet from time to time ;-)

Ringing it out fully today it definently goes faster then my logged 225mph runs, estimating 235mph/375kmh today!!

enjoy :-)

The Skyrunner is a bit bigger from the looks of it, would probably fit your P-20 too :-) But a larger plane will probably be slower. How many rpm does the P-20 do? and what EGT at full power?

I choose not to use the canards as you need to get the CG forward by 20mm if you add them. CG 20mm forward = more weight in the nose. As it is setup now I use a single 1300mah 2S battery and put the pump and ECU in the nose and just had to add 15g of lead to get a proper CG.

I programed a flight mode where I have about 45% up elevator for launch, as soon as I launched the plane I reduce throttle to idle and flip the FM switch to normal flight mode and off we go :-) look at the video and you can see the procidure.

Well as it is a delta it will not tip stall, which is pretty good. This means you can hand launch it with out any hassle and land it pretty slow. While under power you can do tight turns or just cruise at just above idle. Slow is hard to define but you can certanly fly it at low throttle settings without beeing afraid that it would tipstall in to the ground. For landing I do an S-shaped approach, again useing the delta high aoa capabilitys to bleed of speed landing it pretty much where I want it. As you can se in the video the Baiojet does glide much better then the Funjet = overshot the landing haha

Speed is nothing without a size coupeld to it. Would be intresting to compare Davids Firebird to the Baiojet, to see which looks the fastest on the sky.
