These last three photos were taken at the Saturday night steak cookout (thanks Eric Clapp!). A great time was had by all.

Again, we all appreciate the hard work of CD Mike Pascoe, Gordon Dickens, Joe Rafalowski, and all the rest of the Georgia Jets guys who made this a really fun event.

Congrats to Larry lewis on the Best Scale Performance Hardware. You earned it Larry. Just think what you could do with a Scale prop plane.
Larry does bend the sticks pretty good and knows how to present the Cougar in a very scale manner. Maybe a trip to Top Gun is in his future?

Thanks for the photos Robert. The NC boys ripped it up all weekend, as expected. And even got to take a little Georgia red clay home with them. I promise Georgia Jets will be there at FIF next May, even if I have to kidnap them.

Danno, I bought Larry a new T28 and fitted it with scale nav lights (during the meeting), it was subtle lighting, 2 wing tip nav lights, 2 wing tip strobes, a tail white light fitted in the bottom of the rudder, and a beacon on top of the fuselage. Then I fitted two landing lights in the leading edge of the wing about 3" from the root. These were controlled by the retract switch. All in all it was well cool. I did not realise even though he flies the KC quite late that he had never done any proper night flying, well after 5 days at SJS he was as you say having way too much fun.

Probably the best flight was when all the lights in the pavilion were turned off and it was "pitch" black. I think I will have one next time too.

J,

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't you have to buy Larry a new T-28 because you left his other one parked on top of a roof at Kentucky??? Ba ha ha ha ha ha!

Johanna and I have safely arrived home after a 12 hour drive to Naples and an 8 hour flight back to the UK............ "BUT" what a meeting.

It was worth all the effort to come to Super Jet South. I had 31 flights and between Larry and I we burned 45 gallons of Jet A and 5 gallons of smoke oil. We met old friends and made new ones (Phil and Megan) and were made to feel very welcome. The atmosphere was great and everybody got on well with each other. I might be wrong but I think that this was an accident free event. It just goes to show how good the reliability is of modern equipment and the quality of the flying as well. There were between 4 and 6 planes in the air all day everyday.

We would like to say a very big thank you to:

Gordon Dickens for such a wonderful site for us to fly at.

Mike Pascoe for CDing SJS 2011, and cooking the best Ribeye steak we have ever had.

Joe Rafalowski and Craig Gottschang for supporting Mike Pascoe

The rest of the Georgia Jets Flying Club members that helped to make this event run so smoothly, I am sorry I do not remember all the names, but they did work hard.

Eric Clapp for his generous help with the Banquet dinner.

SJS 2012, oh yes bring it on, the clock is ticking.

I guess we can always be sure the truth will find us out. Beware I am working on a new "night flying" secret weapon for next year.

WOW!!!!!!! What an awesome event. I think I speak for the whole NC gang when I say this was nothing short of a fantastic event. This was the second time attending for Jacqui and I and we had a blast. This is certainly a flyers event, and we really love the atmosphere the Georgia Jets club has developed. "Super Jets South" has more of a personal feel to it and everyone feels welcome being there. You guys really do it right! CD Mike Pascoe kept things running smooth, Joe Rafalowski assisted what seemed like EVERYONE at one point or another, and ALL of the Ga Jets gang and family members did a great job of running this event to provide us many days of fun. Jacqui and I look forward to many more years attending this great event. Cant wait until next Sept!

A big thanks to Gordon for creating such a wonderful venue for us all to have great time. Its like Disney World for model airplanes! Oh,,,,, His Mai-Tai's are pretty awesome to! lolololol

Guys,

Thanks for the great comments. It was definately a memorable SJS....about 70 pilots, perfect weather and literally non-stop flying from dawn to dusk and beyond. "Super" get-together all around. I'll be doing a full report in the next JPO issue of Contrails but here's a small sample.

Award Winners:
Best Scale Performance - Larry Lewis (Cougar)
Best Electric Performance - Bob Fiorenze (F-14)
Best Sport Performance - Pablo Fernandez (multiple)
Best Military Performance - Lewis Patton (F-15)
Pilot's Choice - Boli Muentes (Tucano)
Best of Show - Jorge Escalona (Mig-29)
Top Gun - Johnathan Smith (Bobcat, Bandit, good-guy)

Super Jet South 2011 even extended to a UAV hangar "somewhere in the Middle East". Does this guy look familiar? His first name is Travis and his last name rhymes with "trapp".... he's the son of a well know turbine company manager who frequents and supports many jet events in the US.

that kinda looks like the UAV hanger at COB spiecher Iraq. I had those guys offering me a job to fly UAVs. Its funny being an aviation safety officer I was doing a crash investigation on a UAV that had crashed. Its insane how much those things cost and for that reason it fell under a class A accident and had to be investigated. I kinda felt dumb getting flight records on two guys and making them go pee and bleed for a remote control airplane crash[:-] Crazy things you do in life I tell ya. Wish I could have made it, but next year I am there as long as im not in afghanistan patrolling the not so friendly skies.
