Didn't do much yesterday or today so far. Got both fuse's up to the same level of completion. Now starting on the top hatch area on both. Will post pics when I can. Nick's coming over in an hours or so for dinner and he'll get a first hand look at the project other than what he has seen at work with the plans and online pics.

Just got done with dinner and dessert. Nick came over this afternoon and we took some pictures for us to have. Nick insisted on gluing in a few pieces while he was here and found a error in the hatch sides; no big deal we will have to notch for a few of the hatch formers. Bob Frantz stopped by as well and he picked up his stringers and retracts while he was here.

Thanks Jimmie, We'll get together during the holidays and work on them. I woke up to a dead water heater again. Last week way to hot and today no hot water. I replaced the thermostat last week looks like it is either bad or the element got burned up last week when the thermostat went nuts. nick was impressed with them and did insist on gluing at least one part on each to say he helped out. LOL. He is leaving on Thursday for Canada for the holidays with Olga and then down to Fl for the winter until I need him again for work.

Started working on the hatches tonight. I found that the F-6as F-5a and F-4 a and b needed a little trimming to fit just right and that the hatch side rails needed to be notched for them just like Nick thought; no big deal.

I was able to get one of the fuse's hatches framed up and was at GPA today and picked up our pair of dubro 100 oz tanks and one dropped right in once I removed the cross brace on the top of F-7. Once I get some dinner I'll post a before and after picture of F-7.I think that if we remove the center of F-8 and put in the sub former F-8A and move the tank back we can get a UAT tank in front of it and stay inside the tank area. Moving on to the second hatch in the morning.

Ok took some pics of the tank area before and after the mods to f-7. i will remove F-8 on mine and jimmies to get a second smaller tank in and the uat. I'll see if two 80 oz tanks will fit for those that want a big engine in their version like Bob Frantz and his Jet Central 41 lbs thrust monster. lol

Well the big dubro tanks are just longer to get more capacity so with my head cold I have spent the day in bed instead of opening gifts. I'll get back on the fuses and report back about options for fuel tanks . I know that my BVM F-4 tanks fit inside and will give us a gallon or so but they are a lot more than a 35$ dubro set.

So sorry to hear you were under the weather. Busy,Busy day here with the grandkids and driving to folks house. I have been looking around for some square tanks (1 between each former) or something that will fit width wise that will total over 100oz . Just have not found the right website. Any ideas? Give me a shout with the max width between the fuse sides, I am guess-ta-mating using the dubro tank width dimension off their website. Talk to you later.

If you can't find a tank that works for you , you can always make one. In the photo is molds I made for a 90% scratch Reaction that I made last year. The green foam plug is the start for 125oz one of tank for my Boomerang

Thanks for the dimension Bob! The Dubros will work Jefff, Ron and I were discussing the other day trying to get aaround another 20 to 30 oz into the one section between the formers. We both hate barf tanks on the wing prior to take-off. Right Ron? Of course we will still will have the uat in there somewhere!!

Guys thanks for the ideas. We have already looked at them for solutions though. The measurement Bob gave is the total witdh at the sides of the hatch stringers; and we need to fit the tank into the compartment that is smaller due to the hatch construction side stringers, Another is also the hatch formers extend down into the compartment when it is on so there are other factors for the tank area. I'll post the solution asap but this head cold is kicking my butt. The tank opening size once formers F-7 and F-8 are opened up to what is shown in my pictures is 4.5 high x 6.5 wide x 13.0 long.

One other idea I had was to have a removable floor and put two 100oz tanks in from the bottom if they will fit. However this would require a redesign of the tank area but that might be the easiest way to go to get in more fuel other than expensive tanks we would have to buy or I would have to make. I've made tanks before at work and I would rather not do that again unless there is no other options for more fuel that is easy. I try to never break the first rule of engineering " never make anything you can purchase". lol.

Well the road to H**l is paved with good intentions and mine was to get the two fuses knocked out by new years and move on to the stabs and cut the wings. Well a week off during the holidays didn't help as I was sick all week and just got back on them this afternoon. So now fuse one's topside and hatch is ready to sheet and fuse two's hatch frame has been fitted and is drying. Sorry we didn't get together Jimmie and Bob but I thought you guys would just not want to get the sinus infection I had.
Looking good Keith you might beat me finished.
