Bypass and tailpipe size would affect it greatly. I have a P-120 size bypass/TP, so no matter the engine size I will have lot's of cool air flow. I could see a potential performance loss if a P-70/RAM500 size bypass was used, as a P-80 would block 90% of the bypass air. You'd probably cook your tailpipe eventually too.
I flew my BARF on a P-70 a couple of times and didn't really like it. Not much mojo.

Ya Im kinda of looking for that "oomph" out of it. Something with a wide range and that low end punch when you need it..Im thinking that p-100 might be it. Smaller, lighter, than the p-80se with just about the same thrust..

Hmmmmm...........
It seems to me that when I looked the installation over, it was in the P-70 bypass tube.
I could be wrong, so I'll find out and report back.

Eric, we have talked about this and I still feel the P80se would be a smarter choice at this time. The p100 looks great but they are hard to come by and they are a new design. I would wait another season and see how they are performing.

I know Mike but its all blingy, and shiny, and new..lol...I know, I could probably save a g-note too just by getting a p-80se on the used market..it is reliable, my p-80se hasnt had a hiccup since I owned it..Maybe I should wait for some reports.. Better see you Sat. Mike at Brians house..

RE: Need Some Help On a Bandit.
Correct.
The P-100RX is only .070 larger in diameter...not enough to worry about. The length is very close too, so the P-70 bypass tube and cover are a great fit.

I changed out the old (non SE) P80 in my MK1 BARF for a P100. Been really impressed so far. Performance is better all round, can fly 11 mins and there seem to be no problems running it in the P80 bypass

Got out and got some pics today - I posted a bit more about the combination in another thread but I would say this is the perfect turbine for the BARF! I really like the improvement over the P80.

No problem KC.
I've been watching guys flying Ultra Flashes recently and wondering how they compare to the Barf but getting back behind the sticks of mine with this new set up reminded me of what a nice flying, well engineered aircraft this is. Will be even better with the gear doors and quicker assembly times

Hey Mike..Well the boomerang is gonna get a lot mileage before I get the courage to put the Bandit up next year, especially with the cost and the hours putting into this. Oh..and If I made too much you know that would be an Ultra Bandit on this thread..lol..
Cant wait to hang out with you guys Saturday, I get out of work at 5 and it takes me a half hour to get there, so you better not go leaving on me..

Hi Eric
Could you measure the diameter of the aluminium wing spar? I am building from scrath a Balsa Bandit and I am thinking to change the wing fixing system "a lo MkII"
Thanks in advance

RE: Need Some Help On a Bandit.
As I am coming to the end of this build, minus turbine, tanks, radio etc.. I was thinking about the power system. I will be running a JR 1222 in it and was wondering what you guys think. I have been hearing good things about A123's directly to the receiver, no regs. Any one have a good reliable suggestion??? I was thinking of staying away from Lipo's, except with twhat comes with the turbine for the ECU...
