Mr Richards,
Thanks very much for the video. The first flight shown, with Ali on the sticks, was actually the Maiden Flight. Thanks Ali!
Still had some bugs to work out on the LG but she flew great! My takeoff was the third flight and finally got all three LG to go up, but of course, then for landing only one main gear would release. Damn those Gremlins!
See ya in Phoenix next year!

Tony,
Every thing was fine. Didn't even scratch the wing tip. She's had 4 more flights since then and the LG has functioned perfectly.

It's an AirWorld kit. Ali had the exact same problem with his D model. One of the main cylinders would leak air on the retract stroke, such that it either wouldn't have enough pressure to fully retract, or if it retracted wouldn't have enough pressure left to extend. I think Ali had to land his once, without any gear down before it was corrected. The problem was that the leak only presented itself under load, ie everything worked fine on the ground, but once in the air, the extra resistance would allow the leak.
I had to disassemble the LG cylinder and wrap teflon tape underneath the o ring so that it would seal, and then finally it took pumping the system up to 150lbs pressure to get all three gear to retract reliably, immediately after takeoff.
It's your typical European scale kit. No top hatch, so access to equipment sucks! But I think you've already found an answer to that one! But seriously, the quality of the kit is excellent, very straightforward to build and flies AWESOME! Were I to build another, I would change the stab actuator system to something a bit more simple and serviceable, similar to the BVM setup. And I had to add a couple Dubro tanks as saddle tanks to increase the fuel load for the P-200.
I'm hoping to see the Euro closer to par, at some point in the next year, at which point I would probably pull the trigger on a D model and paint it in the SEA camo scheme.
Come to Desert Storm in Feb, I'll have it there and you can get some stick time with it if you like.

Looking good David. That is a nice flying bird and you did a great "first" job on the flight metal. Keep it up!
Pat, another great video....you really do a great job.
Thanks...

Pat,
The problem on the left main gear hanging up turned out to be a kinked air line on the gear door. The cylinders for the main doors are center mounted right in front of the turbine intake. The suction had caused the line to kink just in front of the cylinder nipple. The system seems to be pretty air tight, now, so I don't think I will need a failsafe. I hope!
Thanks Lowell. I think I've fallen in love with the look of the FM. I'm almost done covering the AirWorld Mig-21, I picked up at BITW, in FM. But I think that'll do it for a while.
