This is great news! Our field is truly one of the finest fields in the country, if not the world. Located on the fairway of a former golf club; the long, rolled-grass runway is easy on tires and brakes. The scenery is breathtaking, with wide open space on both ends and in front. A covered picnic area and fully equipped kitchen and grill make it an awesome place to have an event.

If you are unfamiliar with the Farview Flyers field in Hamburg, Pa, check out this video. It is very fast-paced but still gives you an excellent overview of the facility.

As you take in the scenery, check out the gorgeous F-100, the high-speed, low passes - especially at 1:19, the "zero length" takeoff straight up at 2:10, the smokin' hot pass at 2:55, the vintage Hotspot at 3:06, the gorgeous paint on the Bandit and Firebird, the "near miss" at 5:06, and the crazy landing at 5:55.

Most of all, check out the awesome field!

This is great news, sign me up. Many thanks to the Farview Flyers for taking on a huge task in such a short time frame. If anyone doubts the condition of thier field and the ability to fly jets off of grass let me say, I have an absolutely stock Habu 32 with a 20c battery and it will lift off at 150' with mid flap. Even those tiny little wheels roll through thier manicured grass carpet with ease.

Also, many thanks to Mike Lesher and his dear wife Cindy for thier outstanding service to the east coast jet community, I was saddened to hear the news regarding the Liberty Bell rally. Being fairly new to the jet scene I don't have the benefit of a long history as many of you do but when the old timers speak of Mike's events it is always with praise and gratitude.

Thanks again

I was able to make room reservations this morning at the Microtel for us (Jimmie, Harold, Bob, and Buddy). I'll call Steve today and see if he knows about the chnage in venue.

Erik,

Just to clarify, you stated Farview intends to have a "yearly" jet meet on the dates Liberty Bell used to be scheduled.
Does this mean there will be TWO meets each year at Farview, August and October?

If that's true, that's even better news! Your club does a great job of hosting events.

Thanks, Mike C.

I know that most of us in the N. Carolina crew had already planned for LBJ. I have no problem at all going to Hamburg instead. I will be in Virgina this week end and will see if I can get some of the other Carolina boys to commit. Even though its a shame that an established event like Liberty Bell gets the kibosh by the new owners of the field,I mean what harm, if any, would the event cause the the new owners? its great of you guys to step up.

thank you!!!

take care
Mike S.

Mike,

This year, for sure, there will be two jet events.Going forward,we will assess. As it stands,we have 2 jet events, one giant scale, one heli, and three learn to fly days each season. That aggressive of a schedule takes a toll on our core members, who selflessly man these events. The bottom line is,we're not sure yet about next year and beyond, but we love having our jet buddies come and spend time with us,and will continue to facilitate that,to the highest degree possible. Thanks,

Erik and the Farview boys
