It'll be here tomorrow! Can't wait. Now I'll spend a few days digesting the manual. (already started that). I've never owned anything but Futaba and I'm proud to own the flagship system for my Ultimate, CA Pitts, and my silver bullet BD5.

I really like my 18MZ. It has enough channels and functionality that it should last for many years to come (I flew my JR 10SXII for over 10 years, and my 10X for almost 5).

I was a little disappointed with a couple of things about the 18MZ though. In reading through the ads and the manual before purchasing I mistakenly thought that the SBD-1 (serial bus decoder) could be programmed with the transmitter just like the Sbus servos. I was pretty upset to find out that I had to purchase either the USB programmer, or the little box to program the things. It would have been nice if the manual were a little clearer on this, and it would have been nice if the USB programmer were included with the radio.

After reading the manual and checking everything out, I think it's worth it as far as cost is concerned. There's not much this radio can't do as far as models are concerned.

Plus it's hella cool!

Does anyone know if there are any grips on the market for the 18MZ? Would like to swap mine out for some fatter grips.

Jetster81 and Tim Watson, both who reside in the United Kingdom recommend the absolutely reliable and trustworthy transmitter from Hobby King. And hey, its only 53.95 and comes with a 9 channel RX.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...FUJo4AodnV9Ezw

Me? I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.
And whats that statement based on?. Pray tell us especially if it it a personal experience? . The Turnigy has many happy customers around the world and I personally have heard nothing but favourable reports from users which is what I relayed on the thread.

Me personally I have flown almost excusively Multiplex for the last 30 years, currently a Royal evo pro 16 channel and have on order the new Profi TX 16 when it comes out later in the year.

Not sure on the 18MZ but the differences on the 14MZ are;
The location of the spring loaded trainer switch.
Airplane has this switch top, back LEFT and Heli has it top, back RIGHT.

The airplane came with a ratchet on the throttle and the heli is smooth.

When you create a new model the Heli will default to a heli and the airplane will default to an airplane.

They both have all of the same programability, the switches are easy to swap around, and the throttle ratchet can be turned on or off.

Whatever it is, as long as its Futaba. Currently Futaba 18MZ. Previously 12z and 14MZ. Changed to use telemetry and Sbus for my future jets. Nothing has come even close to the programming flexibility of these three units.

I had to buy the 18 MZ. Because I only live once! I cant really justify it as my 12FG has served me brilliantly. But I want to go forward, like the sbus and telemetry. Also the touch screen is really nice to operate. I do lots of filming with helicopters and fly almost every day, maybe this is all justified...
