Default Large jet suggestions for short runway?

I'm looking for a 160+ scale jet for a field with a 520' runway that has obstructions (trees). Any suggestions?

Here is a link to that video of the field... Notice how Rev Russ had to drop the F-18 down past the trees:

Some planes I considered:MB-339, ViperJet, large F-86...

Dantley,

Put your order in for a new SkyGate/CompArf BAE Hawk! A 160 will fly it, but your rigorous flying style would probably do better with a P-200. Drop flaps to full and my Hawk can land within 250' at just barely above walking speed. Or you could even add the brake chute and stop it in 100! FUNNN

How about an Airworld Hawk? These things land slow and I know someone local to you with a brand new one for sale

@Dave, maybe I should step up and fly my SM Hawk there.
@Arnaud, too close in size to my SM Hawk... Your CARF Euro might be a better plane for me. ;-)
@Shaz, You're a bad influence!

What about a Carf/Skygate Viperjet?

Never seen one fly but sure like vipers and Carf.

You know my answer: BVM F100... it drops vertically. I stop it in half runway at woodland. In fact, let's go fly at tomcats together and we'll try it

Exactly. It sounds counterintuitive, but you really want a heavy plane that doesn't float and that won't tipstall... Plus you have a chute !!!!

Jack, let me know when you're free to fly your F-100 at Tomcats! This Sunday??? You can even come by and see the F-4.

Just the south side, but the wind is typically coming from the north, so you have to clear the trees.

Any other suggestions?

F86!! Fly's slow and stable. Great flying plane and will stop on a dime and give you 9cents change! Really, with speed brakes, full flaps and slats it just sets down and very little roll out. Great all around. 160 perfect for it.

What about a Kingcat set up with crow and split rudders for braking.

I think only one jet for shot runways is the carf eurospor Eurofighter ,I own 10 jets and 2 of them a Eurofighter one is scale heavyweight and one is the 3D super lightweight with p-120 se l only need 200 ' runway to fly and do 3D with vertically performance I think is the best jet of all for short runway and in one you will have sport and scale jet just look on YouTube for carf Eurofighter .

I've had the Fei Bao 1/5 scale MB 339 and flew it from a 400' runway with a RAM 1000 installed (28lbs thrust on a really good day), not a problem. Don't forget the J-10.

Looked to me like the F-18 didn't have much of a problem. 550 ft is really pretty long even with an obstructed approach. We fly a number of big heavy jets at our club and our strip is only 400 ft long. Couple of big F-4's, Flash's, big Lightning, a big A-7, a BVM Ultra Bandit, and others. There is a bit more pucker factor on the shorter field but in the end it makes you concentrait more on your flying. I thnk I actually land better on our short stirp than on the big airports.

I would think any of the planes listed above would be just fine on your strip. If you are concerned take the new plane to someplace big first and get used to it.

Yellow aircraft F-22. I have one powered witha Kingtech 170. It's a real missle but slows down to a crawl for landing....Real ***** cat to fly!

Panthers have straight wings, fly slow, and have LOTS of air bake area to boot. All of that means that you can fly an approach more steeply and still not sweat the flare at the bottom.

Same opinion as Igor´s on the large SM Viper.

Don´t know if still available, but the classic Lightning on a P160 and without the central tank can do very short landings too.

The SM 339 also can be landed in a short strip, but it has a "shallower" glide due to it´s wing size and small flaps. This doesn´t help if you had trees and obstacles in the runway headings.
