Hitec servo jitters/unresponsive
Hello and happy Thanksgiving to those that are celebrating.
I have setup two HS5955TG's on a 6" Y-Harness and plugged it into my Futaba 6014 RX. Power is Li-Ion via a regulated powerbox switch.
Issue: At power up the servos are either totally unresponsive to any control command OR one of them jitters quite alot.
Trouble shooting: I have verified voltage to the RX and its 5.5V under a 1A load and 5.8V unloaded at the switch/regulator. I believe this to be sufficient.
I suspected the new Y-Harness and replaced it with a proven one. No improvment, same problems.
I reprogramed both servos. No improvment, same problems.
I use this same setup on the flaps of another jet without any problems.
Any ideas?

Update:
I just bypassed the 24" harness in the airplane and went from the RX via a 12" Y-Harness directly to each servo, one side at a time. Both tests yeilded the same result= Both servos jittered.
I suspect one of the servos may have an issue that is degrading the signal to both when both are plugged in but the problem doesn't appear if each servo is getting the full signal during the single servo test.

Have you tried another RX with a power source @ 6v and plug the servo right into RX?
This would determen if its the servos or not.

I had the same problem with 5645's on the 6014 FS reciever. Not sure about the 6014 HS.
I cannot say what caused it. I did find that it only happened with 2 x Hitec digital servos sharing
a Y lead & only on certain ports on the reciever. With 1 x Hitec digital servo sharing a Y lead with
any other servo it was fine.
Not a problem on a JR 36mhz reciever, only the F6014 & only on certain ports. On that model I
ended up putting the servos on different channels & mixing them to solve the problem.

The Futaba 6014 Rx's have a reduced voltage output to the signal wire, Some Hitec servo's do not like it, cure is an "Orbit power jack" which has a increased signal wire voltage plus two power inputs.

Thanks for the jet like help guys! I got it resolved this morning. I replaced the Y-harness with a Smart-Fly EQ-II and it seems to work normally. I suspect that EQ boosted the signal voltage enough to handle both digitals. It was a leftover from my gasser days.
The two servos are on Ch.10 for future reference. I'm going to inform Futaba of the issue. Seems they should supply higher signal voltages in this digital age.

Jason, I am pretty sure that Futaba will tell you to go “shove it†because all of their servos will work with all of their receivers. They have no interest in how any non-Futaba piece of electronics works with their receivers and will probably warn that they are not responsible for the consequences that you may incur. Please post their response. I’m curious to see if they have changed their attitude. Dan.

Did not know that Orbit now do a power jack for the 8 channel Rx's as well as the 6014: http://www.intairco.net/products.php...-6008-Receiver

We also found the servo cables beeing corroted/black. Hitec never solved the problem, they offerd me to change the servo wires but no word about the glitching. Hitec used to make very good servos but now days you don't fly hitec servos any more

The fault is not the futaba signal level, it is the hitec servo. This complaint has come up many times for many years, it happened with the 35/72 mhz rx, of different brands, the common point was it was always hitec servos. Their threshold to discriminate between high and low signal is too insensitive and reads both states as low. Complain to hitec, not to futaba.

Thanks Harry. This a very good idea indeed. Henke, no corrosion noted during wire inspection. Funny that Hitec troubleshooting page only suggests a dirty potentiometer as a possible cause for a jittery servo. I will post responses from both companies.
