I'm sure a screen fine enough to keep FOG out would cause a large reduction in thrust!

Of course it is always the individuals choice, One would think the the turbine location on a R54 is fairly well protected. But I have NEVER checked my FOD screen and NOT found stuff clinging to it.

I do not know what these little engines are capable of ingesting without damage, and I can not afford to do the testing to find out.

We use FOD guards too, and will continue to use them, but they are not a panacea.

Here's what can happen to your turbine when the FOD guard decides to shed a piece of the screen into the turbine. [:@]
