Default JR DMSS on Jets

I am looking for guidance and experience.

I am building CARF Ulta Flash. I have 11x Zero with DMSS and DMS2 modules.

Therefore I have both options.

Should I use JR RG1131B Full Range DMSS Receiver

Or JR / Spektrum receiver DSM(x)

Both with PowerBox.?

from a futaba guy who flys other folks stuff at various locations around the world, DMSS is the only choice for a JR guy.

pardon if this is a stupid question, but I have been using JR for a lot of years and my 12X was DMS2 was recently converted to DSMX, which is on my Ultra Flash. what is DMSS? DSMX does frequency hopping similar to Futaba FAST

DSMX or DMSS

DMSS is on the new XG series radios from JR and isn't compatable with DSM2/DSMX

Actually, DSMX is frequency hopping, but it is not that similar to FASST.

DSM2 and DSMX are Spektrum and require multiple satellite receivers, checking fades and holds, moving things around - the general fussing that no other 2.4 GHz system requires for a reliable link.

DMSS is JR's native 2.4 GHz system (a bit late) that uses just one receiver and 2 antennas like the other non-Spektrum 2.4 GHz systems out there...

DSM2 and DSMX allow multiple satellite receivers, the option to check fades and holds, and move things around - features not offered by other 2.4 Ghz systems to optimize a reliable link.

Yep, in the same way that Windows is a feature packed operating system!

I really like the features of Spektrum... wish JR was still using it.

Thanks

I will use DMSS with PowerBox Systems Sensor Switch

That should be good.

Omer

I've been flying my Boomerang Sprint on DMSS with the XG8 for about 1 year and my Classic Flash with the XG11 since June and have had no problems at all.

Having said that I have never had any problems with DSM2 when using any of my JR radios with JR DSM2 receivers.

Sorry, but I find it the other way around JR/Specktrum guys cant resist making comments about Futaba guys, just like your post above.

I guess I'm a JR and Futaba guy as I'm flying with both radios.

I agree, can't post a question about DSM without the Futaba guru's jumping in to espouse the "virtues" of Futaba. They just can't believe that most people buy Spek.

Many of us can buy whatever radio we want, we CHOOSE JR/Spek because we see it's benefits so, seriously, get over it. Multiple satalite receivers for one; you can't honestly look at yourself in the mirror and think that 1 single receiver with two antennae can possibly have the same chance of "capturing" an RF signal that 4 receivers placed in various parts of the aircraft have.

If you don't believe me, ask yourself why many Futaba users choose to use 2 receivers into a Powerbox RSS or other setups in their valuable aircraft where they would like to increase the odds of not loosing their RF. It just makes sense. (to most of us anyway)

ive been flying JR 11x with DSMX on all my jets. Very happy, not sold on the DMSS yet... Funny, i havent seen them preach about how fast the resolution is as they did with dsmx 2048. I called them up and couldnt even get a simple answer. So, that tells me the DMSS resolution isnt as quick/fine.

921x with dual sats, continues to show ZERO fades, ZERO lag ever. I highly doubt the DMSS system can match that.

They've only made the change to DMSS for legal reasons and not for technological advancement reasons, in my opinion and hearsay from parties Ive spoken with.

Futaba has nothing to do with this thread..

I've flown the same giant scale plane with really big surfaces and good servos on both DSMX and DMSS

It's definately not noticibly slower or lacking resolution.

Because since day one of 2.4, Futaba guys enjoyed "hopping" around into other peoples threads wheras JR/Spektrum guys just couldn't hop even if they wanted to.

Because they don't want you to buy the JR equipment why else?

Funny how the new DMSS has two little antenna!
