That Gerry Jackman made modelling history by flying the World's first gas turbine powered model aircraft!
He made the flight at RAF Greenham Common with only fellow project team members present, and shortly after, flew it in public at the birthplace of all Jet Meets, RAF Abingdon. It was a brilliant achievement given the obstacles Gerry and his team had to overcome and instantly brought the dream of 'real' jet modelling a lot closer for those of us there!
The Barjay survives and will carry out limited flying in the future, but for now here's a picture of it taken on the hallowed turf at Abingdon with it's custodian, Jamie Cuff, who's had an article published in the latest RCJI detailing the engine and model's development...
Cheers,

Really nice to know , It has similiar looks to a boomerang sprint . Good job and thanks to all who paved the way for jet modelling to be where it is today . I am guessing , they built their own turbine .
Fantastic

Things have really changed . Look at our modern turbines today kero start internal this and that and we are still pressing further . I am curious as to how many pounds of thrust that engine was producing.
Really appreciate the videos .
Thanks
