Philip Avonds, Yellow Aircraft, BVM...jets that you have to build and last forever. Maybe the price isn't too high when you do a price per flight. My last PA jet had 500 flights, my YA F22 probably has 200. Can't blame anyone for a bad joint but myself.

It is paypack back time.
This are the results of our instant gratification crave. Lots of good quality kits manufactures have disapeared do to the shift to arf.
Think is cheaper, less damge, and less effort to use the scope micro cameres to inspect critical parts. It only needs a small hole to enter the camera.
cheers

If it was possible to get vendors interested in even discussing the possibility of doing the machined components for my F-14, I would of had it nearly ready last year. Since the US manufacturing industry is largely only interested in units of 1000+ parts, its near impossible to get a new model brought to market unless you have a large bank account or the capabilities on site.
Luckily, i've finally found a company (i hope) that is willing to do the landing gear for my model, if that happens, my F-14 prototype "kit" should be ready for its first flight by the end of 2014.

Nice to see somebody else pointing out the facts on some of these so called ready to fly models,i have been talking about this for years in the uk.some of the kits we buy are just not fit for purpose.
But if we complain we just get fobbed off.i have seen an expensive Fred Basset T33 shed its wings in flight.plus I myself nearly lost a well known trainer due to the wing tube sliding into the outer panel.I waited months for a new to the market kit to arrive and when it did I spent the next 2 months correcting faults that should not exist.then on the first flight had the retracts pull out of the poor quality u/c rails,on the taxi back I might add not the landing.I have worked in the motor trade for years and if we sent cars out in the condition we receive some of these so called RTF kits we would be in court quicker than you could think.

I've kept fairly quiet about my experience last year with a Chinese model which failed to rotate on the maiden because the tail incidence was a good three degrees negative resulting in a write off.
After waiting for 8 months a replacement airframe arrived after I had paid a massive carriage bill and Customs tax etc. but at least I got one.
First landing the mains simply ripped out of the wings.
Turns out there was next to no glue holding the mounting boxes to the ribs, they were just glued to the skins.
After a lengthy repair and a good beefing up it eventually flew but wildly out of trim due to one wing unavoidably warping during the repair. So my gleaming new model now looks as though it's 15 years old!
Having said all this I have two models from another Chinese manufacturer which have been superb, so, swings and roundabouts!
Gary.

I have built dozens of kits over the years jets/props helicopters etc.the rule YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Just dont apply, some really expensive kits are absolute c**p some are good,i have a jet legend F15 thats been flown hundreds of times without any failures at all ,it was not an expensive kit but has good u/c mounts, good mouldings etc and flies faultless.also built kits (very popular trainer) that are over priced stick and film models.also had a couple of what I would term BUDGET kits and was very impressed, these kit were the right price included retracts wheels brakes tanks etc for a very reasonable price, was expecting to do loads of mods to get them flying safely but really had to do very little.also bought an A4 skyhawk kit from A1 models which I have no idea who manufactures it but for £700 its bloody brilliant, has its faults but nothing drastic again included retracts wheels brakes tanks etc, thats value.People gave the old flyeagle kits some stick about quality but for the price they were astounding (if a bit heavy) good mouldings nice detail and sturdy.
Did a vertical horizontal landing with my rafael and all it did was bend the oleos.

Interesting thread, as far as i see it you guys have 3 choices 1: lots of money for great quality 2: not so much money for questionable quality 3: do it yourself lots of money and lots of work.

That's it.
I can NO LONGER continue working on this F-16. Even if I got it flight worthy and if it flew great, there are principles involved now.
I love airplanes and I love jets.
And I LOVE flying R/C jets.
Just having a flying pig time bomb, ESPECIALLY in the world we are living in RIGHT NOW (my heart goes out to all in Boston), it sends a bad message to other R/c'ers out there.
I just got off the phone with my favorite person in the R/C jet world; Patty Generali (If you don't know her, you ain't nobody, btw
). Daddy's getting a brand SPANKIN new BVM F-100!!! Woohoo!!! Make some room Jack Diaz Sr. and Jr., Dan Avila, Dantley. I'm coming with mine.

But, remember that in the last two years there have been a LOT of RCU posting about how FEJ was new and improved, and IMO persuaded a lot of folks that things were different now. At KY Jets 2011 I remember being told how the HC usage was the latest and greatest. Had Dantley not posted his thread, I would most likely have ordered a HC FEJ L-39.

Congrats, Raf. Nice to know you can fly a plane with confidence and not deal with crooks if you need support.
I just bought a plane from an Asian manufacturer that I trust! Skymaster 1/7 F-4. These planes are built like tanks and Anton is a standup guy.
USAF short nose in green camo.
