fiber classics euro bi pipe
Just maidened my fiber classic euro fighter, set up with a super eagle, tams bi pipe and stainless exhaust tips. The plane weighs just under 28 lbs dry and carries 160 ounces of fuel. The plane needs at least 80-90% throttle to fly level and does not have much reserve for hi alpha flight. I want to keep the bi pipe and go larger turbine to keep it scale when painted. How much thrust is lost with a bi pipe and how much thrust can it handle. I took the eagle out of my tams hawk, which had a straight pipe and flew with plenty of power reserve.
Suggestions, rhino, k140,170,180?

RE: fiber classics euro bi pipe
I flew my Eurosport with Tam's bifurcated pipe with an original JetCat P-160 (in theory 36 pounds of thrust). I had one of the first JetCat P-160's in the US back in 2005. The P-160 seemed to be the correct power for the bi-pipe. Unfortunately only got about 25 flights before the P-160 came apart in the air (you may remember JetCat had a problem with the original P-160's NGV clearances). Landed the Eurosport on fire at the Winamac Jet Rally and my Tam's bi-pipe was destroyed.
You won't get more speed out of the Euro with a larger engine, but you will get the high-alpha power that you want.
Thanks
Nick

Thanks Nick. The plane has plenty of speed for me. A high alpha with reserve power is what I need, using the bi pipe. Would you happen to know about how much thrust is lost with a bi pipe?
Thanks

Dean Wichmann has the scale Eurofighter and I believe he is using a Jetcat Titan in his, it flies with all the authority it needs on that engine. I had a Fiberclassics Eurosport, (the original before Comp-ARF was building them) with a single pipe, but it was heavy, I had a Pegasus SP in it and it flew great. I think 34 to 36 pounds of thrust is about perfect for that airplane. The Comp ARF Eurosport is really light and with the single pipe flies nice on a P120, but for the scale version with the extra weight and bifurcated pipe, definitely 34lbs thrust.

Tam
if the pipe I have now is rated to 36 lbs is it ok to go larger turbine and just dial it down to 36lbs? Researched a k170g and the weights are close compared to the eagle. I really do not need to go faster, just want a little reserve when doing hi apha down low manuvers.
