I received my King Cat, painted in the mold, Navy Training pattern today....
Absolutely gorgeous.......layups, paint, CNC-routed woodwork, CF gear mounts, retracts, struts are all typical BVM quality.....the new retracts and struts are superbly machined parts and tough for grass fields ops.....
Internal wing design is modeled after the BobCat....lots of CNC-routed machined plywood, CF, and plywood doublers....nose cone and canopy are perfect fits......fuse layup is very nice with CF where it is needed....glue joints appear solid....
All servo hatches are done....perfect fits...all horn slots are cut out on the surfaces.....except for gear openings that are nicely scribed, not much to cut out with the Dremel....live hinging is nicely done...smooth as silk...
Instructions and plans are typical BVM quality....
The kit includes everything but glue, radio, and engine.....
Paint is a 2-part polyurethane...BVM will be offering small quantities of matched-color touch-up paint for ding repair....

OK Tom, let's get that thing ready for Superman. Looks good.
Got my KC (white one) last week. Got a Super Bandit on the board now. Working on KC as glues dries on the Bandit.
See ya at Superman.
Tell Jane I said "HI".

Hi Bob:
I am busy finishing up my AD F-16 nosegear re-do, hopefully to be ready for SM along with my HS and Bandit.....I am going to start some of the work on the KC before I leave for SM....easy stuff like doing the nosecone attach, sealing the tanks, fitting the canopy hooks, and stuff like that....when I get back, it is going to be a marathon build so I have it ready for FIJR....
Are you and your daddy gonna make it to Lake Wales?? Should be another great wind-down rally after SuperMania Nuthouse 2003...

If I just didn't have to tend to the 6 Ladies in my life (wife, daughter, daughter-in-law, and 3 grand-daughters, soon to be 5!!!! when my daughter delivers HER twins the week after Christmas) I would be able to spend more than an hour a day in my workshop!! Right now my honey-doooooo list takes me almost to FIJR..
Recognize my hairy hand?? Trying to mix some epoxy with the other....if I get it in her hair, it will be a doomsday massacre for me.....
Ooops! Jane just reminded not to forget putting 80 year old grandma's garden to sleep for the winter before I leave for SM......just love this being retired......

All the best....Jane too!!!

On the up side of these grand kids, you have an endless supply of baby food jars for screws or whatever. You may throw some in and take to Superman, I'm sure some modelers would love some.

Hi Laura:
I consider it a Compo Super Bobcat.....many of BV's design innovations from the Super Bandit and Bobcat are apparent.....solid, with excellent part fitment.....

Scott,
There are a few more going this year, but I won't be there this year (work).....
The usual Nick, Johnathan, Jo, Geoff and Mark.
But you will also have Colin, Steve, Jason, Mike, Roger from Wren turbines.
There may be a few more going....

Tom,
Can you please comment on the quality of the linkages, etc? Pictures would be great too. I'm strongly considering one and would like to know if what comes with it is quality or if it will need to be bought separately.
Thanks...

Jamie,
I just finished rigging mine you can not replace the linkages with anything of higher quality. All control horns are CNC cut carbon fiber, specific for each control surface. All pushrods are 4-40 stainless steel, 2" long. Very robust! Mine will be flying at Superman and I assure you by the end of the weekend I will test out every linkage fully. I around 40-50 flights on it by the end of the event.
I will post pictures after the event.

Jamie,
ALL BVM kits contain the best hardware available IMHO!!! Nothing left to buy....Nothing I'd upgrade. I've built almost every kit BVM has to offer and have had nothing but praise for them. I'm not a BVM or nothing kind of guy. I fly what I like and I have other planes in my hanger besides BV's.....But, you won't find a more complete kit anywhere. Later this winter I'll finish up my Super Bandit. Too nice now but to do nothing but fly!!! Ahhhh---life in the south!!!!
See all of y'all at Superman!!!
