There is 2 main reasons.. We have noise restriction in our club.. 100 N gives

soundeffekt (L[SUB]wA,korr[/SUB]) 124.2 dB while 80 N gives 120,3 dB. in 10 meters. the other reason is that i have chosen for my son not to fly the crap out of this plane from a start ! He is 13 and can´t get enough speed! We Might go for the 100 N later, when he get more experienced

My Xcalibur has been ready to fly since the 4th of December but due to work, family commitments, christmas and the bloody weather I have not yet got to fly her yet.My mates say I am going stir crazy about this but I strongly refute that,by the way did you know you need three sizes of hex head drivers and a x head to assemble an Xcalibur? ; ))

Great, glad its all gone OK. 80N is perfect power, I even have customers buy new P-60SE turbines for this model as they see the demo models flying perfectly with this small power, it teaches energy management and stops the model getting away from them in a tight area.
We have flown every weekend since Xmas with some really nice days, low wind, bright skies.

Thanks Dave, good to know someones getting some airtime in. After seeing you fly the Xcalibur at Jetpower and subsequent Vids I also elected to go with a P60 as it seemed to go well enough also be easier to balance, mine has less than 300g of lead in the snout with as much gear as possible up there with it. I am sure it will be a joy to fly.

You will probably take some weight out, I've seen two now with almost no weight in the nose, the last with a P-100Rx came in for final checks on Friday, zero weight with three batteries and the pump on the nose structure.
Ali's has a KT 60 in it and no weight added, his lad was flying it at Barkston Xmas bash (he's 8-9 I think)

Thought a P60 would be a little less power than requred for playing with the ASSI Autothrottle system. going to play with fixed speed in large size loops etc.. Think if speed is low it will require large amount of thrust too overcome the vertical part. Eg. a loop with constant speed in less than 120 km/h

I was wondering if these electric retracts would work on this model. The claim to be for models up to 11kg in weight

I would not bother trying to fit these ,the retracts supplied for the Xcalibur fit perfectly with the correct spring loadings and fit the wheel cutouts ,they are also very robust units ,
I have tried hobbyking retracts on smaller jets and found them a bit hit and miss.

Just a quick heads up, a friend brought his Xcalibur round yesterday so I could help with the plumbing, when I pressure tested the fiberglass tank I found a small pin hole leak in the top of the tank, not that unusual on composite tanks and easily fixed.
Make sure you do a fully submerged leak test before installing.
Impressed with the overall quality of the plane close up and I know they fly well after seeing Dave from Motors &Rotors fly his.

We have had the odd tank issue, one other thing worth watching is the hard point in the elevator for the horn. We found one kit with the trim on the wrong side, the off-set horn location ends up with one screw missing. Best bet is letting in a hard block or dowel and bolting through, but its worth checking before hinging the surface (you can hold the elevator up to a light and see the half moon plate)
The factory have been informed and Ripmax are requesting a larger plate to guarantee it does not matter.
