Im currently running my jet with an R14.. i would like to add an R3 as an additional receiver in "clone" mode (additional safety).. can someone assist me with exact steps how I can add an R3 to the existing R14 setup?
Thanks..
Thanks..

Jim... I saw your post #238 and #242... That is exactly what I was looking for... I'll be using an R3 so my ppm out would be port 3 of that receiver... Can you confirm.. Thanks
look forward to see you at the AMA show.. Email me at [email protected] when at esprit booth...

My post #238 gives a step-by-step procedure for setting up two receivers in dual path (each receiver is bound to one Tx module). Refer to post #209 Dual Path - Dual Receivers - Dependant - Normal for a description and pros/cons.
In your post #278 (quoted above), you indicated that you wanted to run the R3 satellite receiver in "clone" mode (as opposed to normal mode) and, presumably, both receivers are each bound to both Tx modules. This configuration including pros/cons is described in post #208 Dual Receivers - Depandent - Clone.
In posts #226 - #237 (page 10), there was a discussion with myself, Chris (Downwind3Zero) and Dave (Goose_F22) about the pros/cons of these two setups. We recommend using both receivers in normal mode (per posts #209 and #238).
If you want to use the clone setup (#208), I would be happy at the AMA Expo to show you how it is done. I don't have the R3 manual in front of me at the moment but bluelevel indicates that it's port 3 is for PPM out. I will email you when I'm at the Jeti booth tomorrow.

Jim

Jim.. I have so far learned that the "clone" method will have issues with telemetry, so I have decided not to go that route... I will be using the Double Path method and retain full telemetry.. I think that is the best way to use two receivers...
Look forward to see you at the AMA show...
Thanks

I'll see you all at the AMA Expo tomorrow. I've been to the Toledo show before several times but this will be my first time at the AMA show so I'm looking forward to it. I'll be spending some time at the Jeti booth, but I'll also be wandering around a bit to check out all the other booths. If you happen to see me, please introduce yourself as it's always good to meet face to face.
Regards,
Jim

I need some help,
I'm using an R14 with a R3 as sat. I followed step by step the instruction in this thread. Everything works fine, i do the test for the S alarm and also ok.
But if i shut down the receiver(and the sat) when i power back on, i always have the S alarm, no way to get out of it....The only thing i can do to make it work again, i need to disable the Sat1 input of the R14, then put it back to PPM input.... But then, if i remove the power of the receivers again, when i power on , i'm getting the S alarm... I spend 4 hours this afternoon trying to make this work without luck....
Can someone have an idea? maybe i have a bad R14??
Thanks!

The S alarm means that the R14 is not getting a valid PPM stream from the satellite. Therefore I suspect the problem is the setup of the R3 or the connection between the two receivers. Here's what I would suggest:
1) hook it all up and then go into Device Explorer to check if the transmitter can see both receivers. This will determine if the sat is bound correctly.
2) check the polarity of the servo wire between the R3 and R14 at both ends. Ensure you are plugged into the correct ports. Did you setup the R14 for sat1 or sat2 PPM input? Is the alarm set for the sat port you chose?
3) pull out the servo wire connecting the two receivers from the port in the R14. This will power off the R3 and you will get a signal loss alarm (which superceeds the S alarm).
4) plug a spare battery into one of the ports in the R3. This will re-power the R3 which should then reacquire the Tx and the signal loss alarm should stop and the S alarm will trigger.
5) plug the servo wire from the R3 back into the correct sat port of the R14 and then disconnect the spare battery from the R3. This should re-establish the PPM stream and the S alarm should stop.

Jim

Jim...I missed you today at the AMA show.. I got to meet Zb and Danny and got to see the DS14, very nice but.. I will stick to my DS16....
This afternoon I followed your instruction as you had posted earlier and added an R3 to my existing R14 in Double Path mode and ALL works perfect... I disconnect R3 and I get signal loss but still have control of the jet.. then power up the R3 while disconnected I get my custom made alarm for loss of PPM at Sat 1...
Now I see on my main screen 4 antennas and two batteries.. as expected... BUT when I tilt the TX so I get my telemetry announced.. I only get one of the batteries and antenna A1 strength and antenna A2 strength... I can't figure out how to get antenna A3 and A4 announced when they are displayed...
Please advise... Thanks

David,
Glad to hear that the instructions worked for you. I'm sorry that I wasn't in the booth today when you came by. I decided to stay overnight and will be there tomorrow until about noon. Carlos came by and it was great to meet him.
It was a lot of fun today meeting folks and showing the products. I heard a lot of favorable comments from folks about Jeti.
Regards,
Jim

As for the voice output of the strength of antennas 3 and 4, yep, this seems to be a limitation of the current firmware. Dave (Goose_F22) and I have a couple of firmware change suggestions we're submitting to Jeti including being able to voice output all four antenna strengths.

Jim

Like i said i my post, everything works until i remove power of both receivers....
Both are bind, i revove the sat, get the signal lost alarm, add the battery directly to the sat, alarm is gone but goes to S alarm, then plug back the sat in my Sat 1 port of the R14 and the S alarm is gone. BUT here is the problem again, if i remove the power of the R14 and turn back on, i'm stuck with the S alarm!!!
I can reproduce it anytime an make a video of if required.....
Can someone can try to reproduce it, most of you are using an R3L for sat, i'm using the newer R3/RSW

Leopaul, Im stumped on that.. I will bind up a 14 and a RSW/R3 and see if I can reproduce it..
I would maybe recommend that you reload the receiver software in both receivers and set it up again..

Hey Jim,
Just wanted to say that it was great meeting you and the rest of the team. I started this thread a few months ago with a simple question. The answers have been everything but simple.LOL. I have been flying with my 12X for approximately the past 12 years and I am looking for a new radio. Yesterday at AMA show, I finally got to hold the Jeti D16 radio in my hands. I thought it would feel heavier but just felt solid. AMAZING!!! It's incredible what the radio's capabilities are today! Can't wait till I get mine!! I should also mention that I was able to hold the new JR 28X, it felt a lot like my 12X just prettier. In my opinion the screen should have been placed on top. With that said, I hope that this JR radio is able to come back to what it once was.
Regards
Carlos
