For those of you who hinged the canopy on the side, what type of hinge did you use? Love to see a close up of how you attached it.

Thanks, Mike

Kirk, which product you use to install flame protector?

I am sure there are other methods for attaching the flame protector material, but I use BVM ceramic heat shield. Simply paint a couple of coats of BVM ceramic heat shield to the PC-21 engine cover. While it is still wet, press the flame protector in place and let the ceramic heat shield dry. So far this method has kept the flame protector attached to the engine cover.

Other than the deflection of some intake air as detailed earlier there must be another way of getting some cooler air into the power compartment. The venting of air out of the fuselage at the back together with a few more NACA inlet ducts in the cowl could help. Or not?

Hi Nev.

Have a look at the picture of the full-size next to the spinner at about 8 oclock. I open my scoop there as well on the side and it makes quite a difference in temp with scoop open and I am also going to put the vents in the rear of the body like Scrogerio di in his. I will post a pictures when home. Hope this helps. Have you received yours yet. If you thought the hawk flies well wait until you put your hands on this baby. Send pic of you build and enjoy.

Have a great day

Regards

John B

What is a realistic minimum (say leaving out cockpit and pilots) RTF weight for this plane with a K60TP?
I've seen quite a range of RTF weights for this plane across various websites.

Thank you very much.
I don't have access to a paved runway, so grass is my only option, so I was thinking that keeping the weight as low as possible was the best path to follow.
I would likely skip the cockpit and pilots.

While searching the web, I did stumble across a PC-21 from Kingtech Luxembourg, JMB Jets, which is slightly larger than the Skymaster but significantly lighter (14kg wet) but it is all built up/balsa construction. It was flown at JetPower from the YouTube videos I came across.

I do remember seeing that video. I believe that particular model was flown with the new Kingtech 45 turboprop engine.

IMO, the Kt-60 turbo prop engine provide such good power with the right propeller, you shouldn't have any issues flying the PC-21 from a non paved runway.

With PC-21 you wouldn't worry about grass runway and take off weight.... Our PC-21 has weight almost 22kg (with 2kg of fuel) and flying unbelievable with K-60TP

Thank you very much for taking the time to help
I was planning on using the JetCentral Turboprop
It weighs about the same as the K60TP with a bit more power (new SE is 9kw compared to my previous version which was 7kw) and slightly lower fuel consumption. Also has Jeti Telemetry integration available....Kingtech has no scheduled date yet for Telemetry

The Swiss scheme in the video is my favorite and likely what I will be ordering
Probably going to go with Details4Scale lighting kit, no cockpit or pilots.

Could someone please tell me the dimensions of the rear (removable) section of the fuselage?
Cant find it online, I am trying to determine transportation and storage requirements for this plane.
Thank you very much.
