Default skymaster 1/6 f-16 3D flying

So i am in the market for another jet. I have a carf ultra flash that i love and i wanted to get a scale jet. Originally i was looking at the skymaster mig29 with thrust vectoring. I have had a change of heart for a multitude of reasons. One is budget and the other is the design of the jet. I recently saw a video of the skymaster f16 1/6 scale flying 3d. Has anyone built this jet with a thrust vectoring pipe. I would like to get some input on the setup. I am waiting on an answer from Anton but i figured i would throw it out there.

If you want to flip flop around like a dead fish, why dont you just have Tam make a TV pipe for the flash or a Eurosport 3D or the Carf J10.. Scale and 3D are two things that shouldnt be in the same sentence IMO... But to each their own.

+1, an f16 doing 3d would just look plain ridiculous IMHO, but some may like that. If you really want that sort of model, Thomas' suggestions are right on the money. Be prepared also to destroy your engine and maybe the model with it. Turbine engines are not built for 3d. The gyroscopic forces on the bearings are huge with that type of flying and they will take their toll. A guy at our club discovered this recently when his engine failed in his 3d euro...and the model was totalled. I have my helis to go to when I feel like doing some hovering.

Dudes, Who are you to dictate what should and shouldn't be done? LOL We do this stuff for FUN. Unfortunately, sometimes this important factor is forgotten. Yes, there are probably better models to do this with, but who cares? One of my favorite videos of all time is Seba flying a Mig-29 3D.

You might want to consider a F-22 from Jet Legend. That is a scale plane that is designed for tight turns, yank & bank and turn on a dime. Tam makes a thrust Vector pipe for it and it's way more affordable than a Skymaster F-16. I have seen a few of these fly and it is definitely a crowd pleaser and show stopper. Oh ya, I would throw a KingTech K-180 in it...

KingTech = Thrust you can trust Baby!!!

Just my .02

Ghostrider 1 out...

Wow....there are some haters out there.....hey ghost. i like the f22. I saw the yellow aircraft 22 fly at florida jets.....sick. I am going to probably go with a rhino for power. Hey Dr...sorry to hear about your mig. That is part of the reason i am not going that route. from the hater section...not a bad idea for the flash. I just wanted something that can do it all.

Like i said "to each their own", but there are also jets purposely designed for this type of flying, which i doubt the F16 was ever intended to do. Luckily for us, we still live in a free country (for now), so any public forums are open to just about any response (within the rules of the site of course).
I never said it wouldnt be fun, i just made a suggestion to better suited airframes.. And im sure the OP will probably care, afterall it is his investment and who knows how long that F16 in the video lasted doing 3D. It could have come apart in the next flight, or the owner could have found significant damage after that flight when it landed.

I think the J10, Euro Sport, F-22, Mig-29, F-35 would be a better choice over the F-16 if you want to perform 3D.
If you still want to get the F-16 which I don't think its suitable than you can try and Email Sebastiano Silvestri maybe through Facebook.

go for it mate dobt worry what the blowy say... it will be mint.

Yeah that went quick only 2 days!

I think I may sell my other one also:

I'm going to do some changes to it: Change to a 1 piece door, this nose / side door on the nose gear is just a PIA always screws up. Check for it on the classifieds next month if I do decide to sell. I have a Jacknife & Avanti XXL coming soon so will need to thin the fleet.

What is your definition of 3D ?
A full scale aircraft with thrust vector doing spins and flips is just Aerobatics.

I disagree that doing 3D hurts your engine. I pull way more Gs doing my high speed turn at full throttle then I do when flipping at almost no airspeed doing 3D with my F22.

Yes well hovering is 3 D. Spins, loops, flipping, rolls, stall turns, etc are just plain aerobatics that the everyday scale aircraft can do. Hovering and pulling out of the hover vertically is another thing all together.

If you do a lot of flipping and flopping you need to service your bearings at half the normal time interval minimum ! I lost my euro to a bearing failure. You tube has lots of videos of engines locking up on TV model aircraft.

Just my 2 cents.

Can you please explain to me why bearings don't last long doing 3D.
Don't get the wrong idea I'm not disputing your claim in any way but genuinely would like to know why.
Thank you in advance.

Centrifugal force... get a push bike wheel spin it in your hands then try to move the wheel in different directions whilst its moving. Then imagine that's your turbine assembly at 100k plus rpm.

in theory it makes sense. But like gun said....i have seen him fly his f22. That is the original flying that inspired me. but they dont make his f22 anymore. So your saying pulling out of a vertical hover is hard on the bearings or thats no big deal?

I have a euro with nearly 50hrs on the kingtech 170. I do heaps of stuff with 3d with it. My bearings feel free like new. But id say if it was a jetcat it would be stuffed....
ha
kingtech power.....
