Default Behotec Brake and UP6 valve. First brake input and it brakes forever.....???

Good day everybody,

I have the Behotec C3 brake and an UP6 valve installed. If I apply 1 and the first brake input, it brakes forever. I understand as soon as the plunger is retarded, the braking should cease. Tube length from valve to the brake is about 8 inches.

Any advice from anybody?

Thanks and regards,

Christof

Can you be clearer. The UP is a brake valve on its own. You have two valves in one system?

OK. What pressure are you trying? You have a strong servo on the UP 6? (Also, how old is the UP6)
If you manually press in the plunger does the valve "click"

Dave,
the valve is new, 1 year old. that is when I bought it.
operating pressure is 100psi/6.8 bar. But also with less pressure (75psi) it shows the same problems.
operation was manually, not by a servo.
the valve clicks by plunger movement, i can hear and feel the pressure build-up.
by release of the plunger, i can also hear air leaving the valve.
when I cut the line from brake to valve a lot of pressure gets released, meaning that residual pressure is the cause of the brake effect. So how do i get rid of this....??

thanks for your help,

Christof

Some brakes just don't work well with that up6 valve.

If there is air trapped in the brake line after the plunger on the valve has been returned to the off position, then something is plugging up the valve's exhaust path.

Vin is correct, some brakes don't work with the UP6. But Behotec should.
Mmm my memory says that allowing the plunger to freely release (no servo) can do this, can you hook up a rod so the valve is loaded a little, then mark the point and hold the rod, then pressurise and try operating the brake, the rod must return to the original starting point

Something simple, but are the lines hooked up correctly (Air In / Air Out)?

This maybe be something to try. Although, I did not run into this when I installed mine. The starting point on mine was very near the end of travel.
