How would I tell what type of fan I have in my plane? I have 2 units, one that is in the plane, and one that is out. The one that is out of the plane has no markings whatsoever. It looks to be a tractor configuration, where the engine would mount behind the fan unit, and the fan has 11 blades.
The one that is mounted in the plane is in a pusher (engine in front of the fan unit), and only has 5 fan blades. And I can't see any markings on it either.
Thanks, Craig!

With the dynomax in the little Yellow A4 os 77 powered with every other stator blade removed she spins up real good and very fast for a nitro ducted fan, probably 150 mph, the 91 has more power for sure but the plane will not hit speeds like that until you get over the 20,000 rpm barrier, the pipe length is also very important, a cmb67 marine pipe works real good at about 12.250 " glow plug to fat part of the pipe........................

Yellow A4
The inlets on the YA A4 are probably a bit small for a .91. If you could get enough inlet air to the Dynamax fan I betcha your Scooter would really scoot with a .91.

Saw one fly, in the form of a Viggen, for the first time at a Top Gun jet meet in UK. One of the top 2 or 3 highlights of the day for me. It flew great. OS91 on a Ramtec fan I think Jamie told me. The light wasn't fantastic on that day but I'll put together a vid of it flying. On the day it won the 'Peter Nye Memorial Trophy' and rightly so as by the judges criteria they reckoned that 'Pete would have liked that'.

As I said earlier, I think the OS .91 is still in production (may have to buy direct from Japan), Tom Cook has Dynamax fans and pipe adapters, and you could use a Weston mini pipe.
What dont have are airframes and overall interest. With Yellow out of the picture, some of the finest DF airframes are now gone.

It's great to hear that there are still some DF flyers out there. It's such a great from of RC jet flying...I grew up surrounded by DF's and miss those days. So many great memories!
Here's some old school DF action from the late 80s/early 90s. This is a Mark Frankel designed Skyray at a Scale Masters competition. If you can't tell from the takeoff, it was a hot day!

I love the sound of a DF model ( i know! i'm weird!) Top gun DF comp's used at our local club at Westonzoyland airfield in Somerset and a few of the other DF meets were not too far away, i used to go to a few with my Dad. I always wanted (and still do!) a full house BVM ducted fan with the Viojett/Nelson set up, hush kit etc, ideally and Aggressor II/III or viper/Ultra Viper. I am a bit of a DF nutter in that i have a growing collection of fan units and DF engines, surprising what is still about!
The Viggen popped up second hand in superb condition a couple of years ago, i just had to have it! it flys very well and is definitely a keeper. The kits are now back in limited production from Russ Thorjet (bought by Russ from the Thorpe brothers) as well as a few of the Pete Nye (Fanjets) designs. A lot of builders now are putting small turbines such as the Wren 44 in them.

Hi guys,
I have a BVM96 mounted on a BVM fan with BVM pipe that I took many years ago out of my BVM T-33 when I converted it to turbine. I also have quite a few new DF accessories, mostly BVM. I know there are remote needle valves, wheels, oleos and various carbon fittings of the era. If anyone is interested PM me and I will make a list of them.
Cheers,
Jan
