What brands of hydraulic systems have any of you tried? and what are your thoughts on them?
We are going to use Hydraulic for our F15 build.
We have been using these:
http://www.morpower.com.tw/mp_produc...ndinggear.html
$249.00 for the whole system which includes main and front gear.
We have had to heat up and remove the fittings from that gear for use on our gear, due to size.
They also offer a quick disconnect for the fluid lines when you have gear that stay in the wing:
http://www.morpower.com.tw/mp_product/connector.html
Pretty nice stuff, keeps the system sealed.
You have to e-mail them in order to buy it, they dont have an on-line store.
Thanks
Doug

Hello Guys,
With all the discussion regarding large retracts, I thought I would post a photo of a new High a Flow UP valve.
I am working on a project for Ali that requires a tone of air, I have used the UP valves in past and found they flow very well, however as the cylinders I am using are all fitted with 4mm Festo it was bothering me to use a 3mm line out of the valve, I spoke with John at Model Aviation Products and he was able to produce the valve with much larger nipples, have yet to use it but he has tested and advised there is noticeable increase in flow.
I must say John was more than eager to help, he modified a bunch of valves, cycle tested and shipped in a weeks time, he is also in process of making a new High a Flow UAT, I am sure it will be as reliable as his others.

Richard,
Do you think that if you are throttling the air with needle valves (as one does on the UP valves) that it matters having 4mm fittings? I have used the UP valves on a lot of planes, and like them very much .. but it seems that if you are not going to allow the full flow anyway, there is not much or maybe nothing to be gained from larger fittings.
If you test them and determine this is not a valid point of view, it would be quite interesting...

I did experiment with a standard version, with needle valve removed, and was still looking for more flow, also when testing static, there is no wheel rotating or wind, and in my case the gear on the 104 closes forwards into the head on air while rotating it's spinning wheels, so even if it bangs closed on ground during static testing once it has these other forces acting on it things will settle down, that's the plan anyway.

Got allot more done over the weekend. She is starting to look a little mean! Installed all the antennas and probes along with most of the weathering is complete now. Going to start on detailing the ordinance next.
One thing I noticed is the pylon for the lantern pod is the wrong angle and holds it very nose down and the real one is level. So going to re shape it to give it the proper angle. Can't wait to fly it with all this stuffvhabging on it!
Also a pic of the new gunport I made with the proper 6 barrels.
Some of the bottom antennas on my particular serial number aircraft had different antennas on the bottom. Sean included different ones in the kit he supplied but one of mine was still slightly different so took it to the belt sander and made it right. It appears mine is the only F15E with an antenna this shape just my luck lol.
Had time to mess with the programming also on the inlets. Since the plane flies fine with them I decided to go ahead and mix them to the gear switch. So gear down inlets are down gear up inlets up. I also mixed in a manual override mix switch so I can still control it need be.

Did work on the lantern POD today and it now sits at the correct angle. Had to sand off a half inch towards the front of the pylon.....
Taking her out to fly on Sunday weather permittin . So will test my double gear valve then and see if it works or if I need to come up with a hydro system before topgun.

Hi Gunradd,
In the image below, which set is the improved set, right or left? Or are these two new sets? The set on the left appears to be of inferior quality metal to the set on the right, on the right it "appears" like more pure steel. Does that make sense? Also, did FB send you multiple sets to test or are these an old pair and a new pair?
My plane is about to ship in the next week or so, any advice on items I should request they include or ensure they substitute based on your experience?
Thanks in advance.

These are 4 new ones. They fixed the part in the middle that was breaking only to have poor welds on the bolt in the bottom break. These have better welds on the lower bolts so they dont break. These should fix the problems but are still not going to be as strong as the original ones that they used to make. They refuse to make them the old way so these are what we get now. I have a set installed and will fly them Sunday. With the plywood gear mod they should work great and take care of this part. Also going to test my 2 air valve system to see if it gets the gear up. If it does not work I will be probably switching to hydraulic.
My buddy Joe that has this plane is having a friend thats a machinist trying to make a 1 part piece. Looking forward to seeing what he comes up with. In the mean time these should work now.
When you get your plane take pics and show me what ones you have and I can tell you if they will hold up. What engine are you gong to use?

I'm going to go with twin Jetcat 180s, there will be a slight weight penalty over a single 200, and less of a penalty over a larger 300 series turbine option. The twins are going to be about 1.5-2lbs heavier than a single 200, that is not accounting for the external fuel pump needed on the current gen 200, it's integral on the 180s. I'm also not accounting for two pipes instead of one. I'm also going to try and keep the build light in terms of add-ons.
A hopeful benefit will be that it should be able to fly on one turbine, this is based on the thrust figures of a 180. This could be useful in case of a flame out. There are some that would debate a twin setup is heavier, more complex and adds risk, we will see. No risk = No glory.
I'll post pictures of the sockets when I receive the plane and inspect all the parts.
In the mean time, here are a few pictures of the plane.
You're the first to see pictures, let me know what you think. It's taken a little time to work through the details with the GJC and FB team to get to this point, but they've been absolutely awesome to work with, very accommodating and good people.
Great team for sure!
BTW- I know I'll get hate from people for deciding on this scheme on a F15-E, but I just couldn't help it.

Hi Skunkwurk. I put two K T 140 in mine and it is almost ready to go up. I am with you that two is better than one. And as far as the paint job, it looks great. I am from NC so i went with the 336th out of Seymour Johnson AFB NC Sure hope that all the guys that are pitting these F-15 together could get all of them up at one time. Kentucky Jets sounds like the place to me. Gunradd if you fly on Sat or Sun shoot a vid of that thing and send it to me. Sure like the way this guy flys.

How are you going to run the three tanks with the twins?

great day out with the f15! Had many great flights with everything working perfect!! Gear with 2 air valves works perfect. Gear went up every time no issues . Airbrake with 125 psi works good and did some really slow high alpha dirty passes.

A great builder friend of mine took the front tank and took 5" out of the middle and then put a divider from front to back and made two tanks out of one. Each engine will have two tanks to run off of. The front holds about 45 oz each and will drain first and then to the main tanks (saddle tanks). This will keep the fuel that is left close to the CG on the landing. I will have about 1.25 gal for each engine that will give me a good 6 mins. of flight with plenty of go around fuel for a landing.
