Thanks for the clarification. That was helpful given I haven't been on RCU enough to follow the details of this thread.

IF two engines are both running at the same power settings, there is NO Vmc. So! Not irrelevant! Every time Gunradd's F-18 flipped onto it's back, the jet hit Vmc. Your Buddies F15 must have a great gyro with narrow gear and one engine out!
I never stop learning, must be nice to have reached that point in your life. I like the mini resume in the signature block, very cute! You have a bumper sticker made also?

I never said the F-18 was without Asymmetrical Thrust in a twin engine model, not sure where you got that.

My point again is that if the thrust angles are correct, the Vmc is much lower. Safe control of this F-18 was not really possible at any speed on one engine, and you are correct about the tanks and fuel in the case of incorrect engine thrust angles. Anything that slowed the plane at all made it more unstable. BUT it was not the tanks or fuel that did it, it was the thrust angles period.

Rainer Rink is my buddy that flew the F-15 on one engine, I bought that plane from him but have not flown it yet. I was there and saw it, all he said after lift off was "whoa". Do I care if you don't believe it? LOL!!! You must have mistaken me for one of your fanboys.

Really nice, I was told the plane flew very safely even on one engine.
Hoping I can put an order in for one in a while, meanwhile maybe you can add this color scheme option? It's a real thing now!

today Likai got an chance to test flight the one turbine for take off and landing again!

From 00:00 to 2:20 this SM F-18F was pushed only by right engine (K-160) and left engine ran in idle. It took much longer runway to airbone. The takeoff weight was 74lb (full fuel).

Would you say a gyro is a must to obtain such a smooth takeoff on one engine?

Congratulations Anton and LiKai, aside from the lack of power of only one engine during takeoff, the thrust line aiming towards the centerline CG negates the asymmetry of thrust from either engine.

Barry

This all sounds familiar.

So in the full scale parlance, Vmc (Velocity of Minimum control) is all the way down to zero?

here is Likai's reply as below:

Yes, I use gyros on roll, pitch axis and nose steering. But in this test I only use nose steering gyro and the plane still climb straight without rudder correction.

That's really great to hear, the climbout was really quite good and if that was achieved without a gyro and even without rudder I think it proves how a correct thrust line goes a long way.

Hi guys,
Just to inform you that a mu-metal screen between the turbines solved my RPM pickup interferences.
Mid-mounted engines on the F18C are very close from each other.
Ground tests are complete.
Next time, I will maiden.

Hi all,
Here is a short video of one of the first flights of my SM 1/6 F18C Hornet.
No big issue after these flight tests.
Inflate tyres sometimes grate on the housing and lateral gear doors, I enlarged gear housing and slightly modified gear doors.
With the user guide CG, I had auto pitch at high alpha and I was barely able to escape from a flat spin so I put 700g more lead in the nose cone. It seems to be better now.
