Start with a 1/4", you may end up with 1/2", usually 1/2" is about right, expect to use about 1/2 of throttle to bring it to the final leg then cut it and glide

well, i'm nearing the end of my install into the DV8R ARF. i have this piece that came with the kit and i can't find in the instruction manual where it goes. my best guess ,because it fits, is it's a support for the wing bolts so they don't allow the wings to spread apart . any guess's? BTW i'm using a jetcat RXI-b p-160 for power and i'm hauling 124 .oz of fuel .

You guessed right, that's where it goes, I've seen other ask the same question before, if it is bare ply, dress it up with a layer of fiberglass both sides to make sure it last for a long time.

well , i got my first and almost last flight on the DV8R . the landing gear sucks as the springs are crap and WAY to light. and i put the CG right on the money that TBM said to use (10 5/8) which is 1" aft of what PCM used. i believe it was real tail heavy as the slower it got the more down elevator it wanted. i deployed the flaps and it shot almost straight up.i made 3 landing attempts and the second one almost bit me. i'm using a jetcat RXI-b 160 for power as it's only a slightly heavier than the p-80 they recommend. all in all i hate it. .

Warbird, it begs the question....what do you guys recommend for CG? Did you program any down elevator with flaps? First flights can be scary...I suspect you are right, it was tail heavy. Maybe a little encouragement is in order...make some adjustments, then try again. How did it fly overall?

plane came in at 28 lbs. dry ...took off at half throttle and i noticed right away that it need up elevator trim . cruised around a bit and found the aileron throws to be not enough even on high rate . then i found it to be to pitchy on high elevator rate. other than that is was ok. on my landing setup i dropped the gear and when i dropped the flaps this got interesting and after thinking it over i think i found out why. As i dropped the flaps it pitched up hard. so i right away pulled them back up. my big mistake was trying to land with take off flap. i have so much residual trust with my engine that as soon as i hit ground effect it kept right on going and going . so i pulled back up and tried for a second attempt but before i did that i put the flaps all the way down again and trimmed the elevators for nose down flight and i was able to get it down. looking back i think the pitch problem was because i programmed the flaps to come down slowly and in between the take off and landing positions i had a lot of lift causing the pitch up and throwing me off my game. i should have made the flap deployment faster to get past the high lift portion of deployment and i shouldn't have used so much down elevator trim on landing. i did that expecting a hard pitch up again. it almost cost me the plane. CG was spot on a 10 5/8 from the leading edge. " the most forward portion which was near the center of the wing.

l had my dv8r set up on a three way switch take off normal an landing..in which l had some flaps set about a 1/4 down flaps normal flight was flaps up...landing l have crow mixed in as well flaps an down elev...on my first flight l had everything quick..big mistake...on my second flight l added 5 sec delay way better my add 2 more sec it didn't balloon because everything deployed slow...landing is still alittle tricky as l have the tbm landing gear way to soft but plane was 80% then the first flight...from what l have heard from the guys in my area is to hold it on the mains longer then normal...doesnt land like a boomer that's forsure

i have 6 flights on mine now and it's dialed in pretty good. i think mine lands better than a boomer now . i added a piece of o-ring inside the main gear springs which helped and i also moved the CG forward 3/8" . i found that you have to get it slowed down before final you greatly reduce the chance of a bounce . the thing wants to glide even with full flaps and crow. right now i have some down elevator at half flaps which i think i'm going to reduce as it will wheelbarrow on take off if you down hold enough up elevator and it makes the plane pop up when you bring the flaps all the way up. other than that ,it flys good.

I'll have to try the o ring trick...l only have 2 flights but maybe I'll add alittle nose weight...not a bad plane in the air or taking off..

I better hurry up with my builds as my free time will run out soon
Did you get around to converting your sketches to pdf format? I really like the look of this model and have been watching this thread for a year or so and I'd be pretty keen to make one.

I was working with Bob from LDS, laser design services but he lost interest on the project, he is very busy right now.

A friend of mine started working also on this project and he was moving along pretty good but the pandemic halted the project.

It's going to be another year before he continues with it.

If you want a fuse lit I can see if I can find the info on the guy that was the original laser cutter.

He can do the laser cut fuse, no wings or stabs, like the one you see on a picture posted above, it is the original fuse kit for sure, about $200 I think

No other parts, my thoughts were to mate a Jet Mach SS wing to the fuse, it has about the same thickness, lengthy and wing area and for the stabs, I thought to use the Turbinator stabs with the Elev and Rudder, if you can convince Bob to cut the parts and also sell you a wing plan then you may have a complete kit but you'll have to do a lot of kit bashing, well worth it I think.

For my project, I will resume it in 2021 as a friend of mine is also working on his version of the kit and he is way ahead of me, this virus situation has slow down our plans for about a year now.
