Default Painter Needed

Hey guys....well it looks as though the person I was hoping to fit me in simply cannot get to my project in time for Joe Nall (which is kinda my goal) so wanted to see if anybody knows of a person in the north east that they recommend and might be available to paint my Paritech Viper? She is a BIG Girl! LOL! Im not quit ready for paint which makes it even tighter, but I am trying!

Getting this thing done has been a challenge to say the least, but the paint is the real stumbling block. Soooo........anybody got a guy?

Worst case.....it doesnt get done and my guy Dan can do it early summer. But still would like to have it at the Nall!

If you are located in the NorthEast i would definitely give Fact-O-Bake a call. I know they paint cars, but they will put a nice shine on your jet as well. They recently did my FlyEagle and it was amazing. If i'm not mistaking, i think it actually sped my jet up a bit due to the low friction honeycomb paint. I highly recommend them If all else fails, you can box it up and send to FlyEagle, they will also paint your jet for you. I think they will complementary go through your jet and reinforce all weak areas for a nominal fee. Don't rule this out as well. Good luck and happy flying.

Well this is not a Fly Eagle jet..it's a Paritech/Tomahawk Viper Jet Kit. I don't think I would want fly eagle going through my plane after I just competed the build myself. I'm just looking for a painter as I really do not have the space to paint a 120" long jet! Plus booth... etc!

I am am not familiar with Fact-O-Bake. Are they a custom car shop?

Nope.....but it really is a shop in Louisiana/Florida! I am guessing it's a "Maico" kinda deal....cheap. Lol! Never heard of it up here in the NE. Seriously though....nobody has a recommended Paint Guy in the Northeast???

Even you don't get your jet painted there, you should send it over so Fly Eagle Jet can give it a good once over. You can never be to safe!

And in all truth, we ALL need painters. If we had painters we'd have way more jets. This is why I've learned (although poorly) how to paint my own stuff.

Good luck!

Do you realize how many jets are painted in the back yard with rattle can paint? Heck, I'd bet Tom Perry can paint an airplane while mowing his yard! And probably has! HA!

I see you are in NJ, are you aware of Dan Davidson? Also if you run out of time, you could do vinyl to get you through the season. I just did my 2.5 Futura from a local guy in Long Island.

Obviously it won't fly as well as if you use Fly-Eagle friction free honeycomb paint, but it'll get you going until you can ship it to them.

Dan is the guy I will have do it if nothing else works out.... but he can't even look at it till June! I thought about vinyl but it's def not my first choice. I can do it myself... have the equip and have done it before, but don't have a booth or really the space for an airplane this size. Pretty much needs a car size booth! Lol! It's huge. And for what's in this plane I really am not willing to just "throw paint on it" and be disappointed. Way too much time and effort into this thing... not to mention $$$! So kinda want a nice finish on it.

I was in the exact same boat as you are. I was excited to work withDan for the 1st time, but decided to bring it by a local vinyl shop to see what they say. I'm very happy with the results, but it is just a sport jet. I can paint as well, but it's hard with space required, fumes if I paint in my basement, overspray if I paint outside etc etc.
anyways, good luck & if you decide to try vinyl I can shoot you my shops contact info. Also Nirlybuilt does paintwork. If you haven't met Nir, he is a great guy to work with.

Did the vinyl add more more weight than paint to the model?

I doubt it. It was already white gel-coat, so the vinyl is only the colored portions. I think it's lighter, looks good, & super easy to repair/replace.

Not sure if you had a look at this previous painting thread there are other painters in the thread, not sure of there locations but it may be an option. Yes Dan would be the best option, he has done some amazing work for me, and I have seen a lot of his finished stuff, and I'm always impressed.

I know an outstanding painter, but no one want to pay to ship their jets to Nevada and back to get painted even though he is cheaper than almost everyone and does better work. If you want a good paint job being a cheap skate is not an advantage.

Advance the video to 2:50 to see the paint going on and watch to the end to see the finish. This is just a plane he painted to fit the idea of the plane... He can do so much more...

Same problem with finding builders. With the size & value of modern day jets, it's just not worth the cost, time, & risk to ship a 15-20k jet there & back. Especially to someone you don't personally know.. My opinion... Jay

Known the guy for 11 years and would trust him before my own family, and 99% of the population.
