Default Fueling Can Suggestions

I recently started flying turbines. I'm using a older Jersey Modeler 5 gal fueling jug. The Jet A nozzle will not fit into the mouth of the jug and it's a hassle to fill without making a mess. I know Jersey modeler makes another jug with a larger mouth. It doesn't look like it would be large enough either.

What are you guys using??????????????i

I'm still using the jersey modeler 5 gal blue jug I bought in 2005 with the same battery. I've only replaced the Tygon tubing and filter (2X) over that time. I went from Kerosene (10 years) to Diesel (1 year +) for my fuel. Never used Jet A.

I can get Jet A for about the same price as diesel and would rather run it, but the nozzle is a hassle.

This is what I used when getting Jet A. The mouth is wide enough to fit the nozzle and you can mix in this container and transfer to jersey modeler.

Part of reason I just use diesel or kero now. JetA nozzle is meant for filling hundreds of gallons on large full size jets. But Jegs or Scribner type cans can accept the nozzle. Due to flow rate, it's unlikely a shallow funnel would work.

I have the can at the very top with the big mouth on it

http://www.jerseymodeler.com/id28.html

but I have not filled it with Jet A yet. I still think I might stick with Diesel as a fuel even in the Jets Munt.

Some of the guys like Mr. Funnel because it filters and separates out water. Its kind of a pain though because it leaves several ounces of fuel in the funnel when you are finished.

Personally, I just use a plain large mouth funnel. Controls splash and can also be used when adding oil.

Dunno what the dimensions of a JetA nozzle are, but I used to sell it. Best I can recall, there'd be no problem firing that nozzle in the Jersey can I own. I'd measure the nozzle and call Jersey to ask what they have that's compatible.

On a different but related note: Unless something is driving you specifically to JetA, consider Kero. While not as bad as diesel, JetA stinks up the place if you have even a small spill in your shop or vehicle. Kero doesn't smell like roses, but it isn't nearly as bad as the other two.

The Mr Funnel is awesome for peace of mind (except for the leftover few ounces you mention).
