Smile Introducing the Top RC Model Aspire - New sport jet - build thread

EDIT 30-06-17: For maiden flights info and pics go to post 36.
For Flight Videos jump to Post 41.

Hello Guys,
After finishing my Top RC Odyssey project, and loving it so much, i had to try the all new Aspire also!
This is the Idyssey Build Thread if anyone's interested:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-j...hread.htmlBack
And a video of the Odyssey flying in Ein Yahav, Israel:

Back to the Aspire, I went ahead and acquired the first Aspire sport jet to arrive in Israel by Sky Toys:

http://www.skytoysrc.com/rc-airplane...-Jet-ARF-.html
At this point i would like to thank Sky Toys for offering this kit locally.

Top RC model is a very well known company in the scale RC prop planes field, that recently started producing jets.
This jet has some very interesting features from the F3A model world, and is rumored to fly bery sharp and precise! and the price was hard to beat!
The quality seems up there with the best of them and so is the finish, everything seems very lightweight!

so, i will make a build thread about this exciting new jet and will keep you guys updated with anything i find while im at it.

The jet's specs:
Length: 2360mm(93in)
Wing span: 2000mm(78.7in)
Turbine: 12~16kg turbine
Radio: Min. 9 ~ 11 Servos required

Description:
1. Full composite construction.
2. All surface prepainted, decals applied and clear coated
3. Tail tube and fuel tank included.
4. Detachable main wing, fuselage, tailplane & vertical fin for easy transportation.
5. Removable hatch on fuselage for easy access into the plane and change accessories.
6. Functional flaps for smooth landing.
7. High quality CNC Alu push rod included
8. More than 95% assembled complete in factory.
9. Electric landing gear with electric brakes.

I am going to be using the following gear on the jet:
Brand new model ATJ 160 SV turbine (small BEAST of a turbine!)
Blue Bird BLS-2609 brushless metal gear high torque servos
Emcotec DPSI RV Mini 5 power system with redundant lipo batteries
Cortex Pro gyro (will run on Sbus from Futaba Rx)
Futaba 18MZ for control

Some pics as it is "Out of the box" attached.
Cant wait to start boltin' !

First step is always take the retracts apart and loctite all bolts. Top RC is the first manufacturer i ever saw that had all the bolts thoroughly loctited- great integration work at the factory! These retracts are truly plug and play gear!

I like to add some clear heat shrink over the motor.
and then fold the wire over with another small piece of shrink, for strain relief.

gear is now ready to install into the jet.

My favorite way to do a direct servo link for steering. it doesnt get any more direct than this!
Blue-Bird BMS 632MG Servo for steering.
i also added a few more pics of nose wheel installation and door mechnism - gotta love the mechanical door - no sequencers, valves or servos to deal with!

Can you give a bit more detail on how the mechanical nose gear door operates. Are the hinges spring loaded ? I am looking for ideas for my current project, a Sting Evo.
Thanks, Rich

This beautiful double tank from Carlos Marquez from CM Jets holds 1.5L Smoke and 4.5L Kero and should be a perfect fit for the Aspire with a very small mod of the existing mount

Aspire tail pipe is very high quality and pulls right off from the front to work on the fuse, while the fuse is apart.
