Default What's the fuel capacity?

Could anyone please tell me the total fuel-capacity of the 3 tanks in the 1/7.5 SM F4?

I've been looking for a manual on the net, but noone to be found.

Trying to set a reasonable number in the timer on the transmitter.

I’m using a BV Hi-flow valve for the gear. Never had a problem. The doors are actuated by a single action valve to close and they are T’d into the gear down lines to open them

I use the JMP high flow valve on the mains, a robart one on the nose and the stock Skymaster valve on the doors. I have separate air systems for the gear, doors and brakes! Air tanks are light,so there are five of them in my F-4.

Thanks.

192 oz should be = 192 x 33 grams = 6336 grams

And many says it burns 580 grams / minute at max rpm.

That should give 6336 / 580 = 10.9 minutes at max rpm. Maybe I set the timer at ......7 minutes for first fllight.

I am close to the maiden now.

After reading through this thread, I will try it with CG at 320 mm according to this drawing here;

It has been flown once before by the previous owner with the CG at this point, but he didn't use flaps for landing.

You will want to use flaps for landing. At this cg it will fly but still be nose heavy. Don’t be afraid to start at 330 or 340 and use flaps for take off and landing

This a labor of love. Another flight today after gear repair. Good news....all gear retracted and extended. Bad news...blew off one main door, broke the other and 1 inner door didnt close all the way. Overall successful and an improvement from last flight. Will repair the main doors tomorrow with a strap around the strut, move the ram for the inner door and I may just remove the outer doors. Not planning on competition just fun. Plane flies well but gear has been a PITA.

Tom,

i changed the inner main gear door actuators to BV cyl and changed the geometry a lot and they’re great now. Stock never worked. My mains middle door was attached to the gear leg with some G10 brackets that hold it quite nicely. I can send pics later if you need. The outer main doors seem to close ok even up to 200mph...ops checked

swap cyl to the BV ones and set geometry different and it’ll make you much happier!!

I know EXACTLY how you feel

You can see they’re all closed if you zoom in on this. Not a fast pass, maybe 150

Tom, thank you. I worked hard on that one. It’s done up in my dads jet’s scheme as best I can do with his name and his WSOs name/number etc.

i doubt ill make SJS..certainly I won’t have a jet if I make it unless Gottschang lets me bum a ride again!!

Keep after it. It’s a cool jet but takes a bit of work to make an everyday plane

Damn that looks good Dave!! Great work!! Especially on the belly surface.

I don’t think these models are ever going to be “every day” fliers.. They are just too complicated. And then there is all the time invested.

Thanks Roger. I really enjoyed the weathering of this beast.

I’ll start the Hun in the next month or so. Very excited and will be picking your brain I’m sure. Right now the question is: can you PM me more about how you did aileron connections on the Hun? Yours is far lower profile than stock

thanks
Dave

Not pretty but it should hold strut door on. Just like the real thing....1 flight and a week of maintenance.

It will work. I did similar but went magnet to magnet. Use tiny rare earth magnets. It can be an everyday flier amigo, I did numerous reinforcements throughout my build and flew it more than my Kingcat. Loved it and you will too. Not many airplanes can compare to a Phantom turning final approach calling the ball at a 1/4 mile. Thing of beauty.
