Unilight Controller On Factory Skymaster Lights?
Has anyone used the Unilight Controller On Factory Skymaster Lights?
I want more control ability and I'm hearing that a lot of people are burning up the factory lights with the stock unit.
Thanks for the info in advance

i had a similar problem, you need to see what the stock LEDs can handle, in my case they could only handle 5 volts so any controller i went with I had to run a 4.8V nicad.

Hi!
i have unilight controler on the table... and if i put a 4.8 volt input... i read 4.8 v output on the light????
To high for luxeon
can i regulate the output voltage with the controler?

The Skymaster controller has a built-in voltage regulator so the factory installed Skymaster lights do not need any series resistors to reduce the voltage. You can use a Unilight controller but the smaller LED lights are rated at 3V only so I'd suggest to use a 1 cell LiIon or 1 cell LiPo battery.

Guys, LED's are current devices. They'll try to take as much amps in as possiple without current restriction. All of them have max current and it is usually quite small without cooling 20mA for small plastic package maybe 350mA for those the bright 1W cooled LED's often used in our models. Tad more if used as probes... Different colors have different operating voltage... Voltage regulation is not an option it needs to be current regulated or life time is seriously reduced...
I do not know how SM controller and led's are made but if controller have internal regulator it should be current limiter. If it has it SM led's don't have any regulating/limiting devices. However I do know that Unilight controller don't have limiter/regulator because it is built in their LED's as a voltage dependant resistor. So running SM led's on Unilight controller is no good sollution to my knowledge. It can be used but then you'll have to add current limiting resistors to all led's. Resistor needs to be sized by the operating voltage, led's operating voltage and it's maximum current.
