Default 1/9 Su-7 Fitter A scratch build/kit

How's that for a unusual jet? Fitter is 73" long with a 44" wingspan. Minimum size fan to make this go is a 105mm. First flight I will be using a changesun 105mm 12 blade. After it checks out I have a low hours RAM 750 turbine to swap into it. Fitter is way old school balsa sheeted over foam wings and stabs. Almost have all the panel lines, access panels and rivets done on the fuse. Going to make the molds for the fuse so all those details will be molded into the fuse. Have to custom make the main landing gear struts as Sukhoi has a weird way they retract. Going to be making the parting board for the fuse plug this weekend. Good thing about Su-7 is I can make the small molds to graft onto the nose and cut delta wings for the Su-9 and Su-11. Going to make the Su-17M swing wing as Sukhoi used the exact same wings from the Su-7. How cool is that?

I like the old Soviet cold war jets. Get tired of the same jets being made over and over. Glad I picked the Fitter as I can make 4 different aircraft from just he one fuse. Fitter should fly real good as it has a lot of wing area. I enlarged the Su-11 drawings to match the Su-7 and the inlet on the Su-11 is 5" so that thing should suck some serious air.

Here is the finished fuse plug with all the panel lines, access panels and rivets. Going to make the parting board and start molding the fuse this week.

Thanks. I almost closed the thread as it seemed like nobody was interested in a Fitter.

Here are the fuse molds. Have to remove some minor flash, drill the holes for the bolts then wax them down and layup a fuse next week. Wings will be done next week. Stabs are done.

Jet looks good. I'm interested in in your custom gear. Will be great to see as they are pretty unique.

Anytime you would like to come by shoot me a email. I am always home as I have to take care of a 91 year old mom. Could use some help with my RAM 750 turbine that is going in it. It is my first turbine. Have a 1/8 Mig-21MF project that I am also doing.

Right on Dallas. I use to live in Dallas for almost 20 years. Had to move here from Dallas to take care of my elderly mom. Fixin to move back to Dallas soon. Today I am going to lay up the front fuse so I can make the different front fuse mold for a Su-11. Suhkoi made 5 different aircraft from just the Su-7. You have the Su-7 swept wing, Su-7IG swing wing, Su-9 delta wing, Su-11 delta wing and the Su-17M2 swing wing. How cool is that?

Not that I have any experience with RAM, but be happy to help anyway I can, I'll be emailing you after my trip for sure!

Here are some pics of the work I have done in the past. Got some new pics for tomorrow. Pics of the main landing gear trailing link I cast from a mixture of alumires and fiberglass powder. Super strong. I can't hardly bend it so most of the main landing gear will be cast with resin and metal mixed.

Fortunately the landing gear is not as awkward to model as the Mig-21.
