Hmm, looking at that i wouldn't have guessed the aluminum bracket was used to clamp agains't the tab. Looks more like bolt would go thru tab and just hold the wing from sliding off. Of course i don't have one or have never seen one, just kinda looks that way from the pics.

OK, those pictures are from different planes. Are one of these yours or did you grab them to show as example? I just had a thought, if they got bonding adhesive on the side of the clamp, would it keep it from pinching the tab? Just something to look at.

Yes I grab those photo from this thread to show the earlier predator had screws going through the wing spar. My problem only show itself when I was correcting left during my high speed taxi.

P.S I will check to see if glue might be the problem.

tighten the clamps without wings and tail in them first then loosen them and insert wings and tail it will make a heck of a difference in holding power once they have compressed past the needed point.

Default Gg with vector thrust

Can anyone running Vector thrust share pictures of their setup? I just checked the CG on my predator with VT using the tool to check the CG and needs about 800gr (1,7lb) on the nose to balance! I have all the batteries forward, not much I can move towards the nose..
I checked the CG with zero fuel

I 've moved the smoke pump forward and relocated all the equipment. Now with full uat and about 1in of fuel I need about 8oz or 220gr to balance using the provided tool.
Any input from the guys running Vector thrust is appreciated

My question is how many guys using this new style wing clamp system without any problem?

Yes on a friends Predator one clamp was upside down which meant the threaded side was at the top, so no matter how tight you do it up its not pulling the clamp together!!

Wow that's funny 😊
Well my wing clamp was installed correctly with the treaded side to the bottom...it did tighten up ok. I only noticed this problem during a high speed taxi test and have to over correct as the jet veered to edge of the runway. As seen in the video.
Anyway maiden flight went very well..thank guys

Default Wing attachnent

Not liking just a wing clamp to hold wings on. I ran an oak dowel thru tube, the tapped tube for a safety bolt underneath. Will add larger washer under bolt to spread load on fiberglass skin.

I'd be cautious of where you locate the screw and wooden dowel. On pattern planes, the wing hold down screws are at the end of the wing tube and not near the fuse interface. There have been many incidents where the wing tube failed at the screw threads. If the wing tube threads are at the end of the tube, less risk of loosing a wing in flight.

Default Wing tube

This wing tube is super thick, thicker then I've seen on my giant scale 40%ers. Also the oak dowel is a tough wood. Im not flying 3d or super high g turns, I think this mod will serve me well and gives added insurance against a clamp failure, slipping.

Finally getting down to putting my new-to-me predator together and about to install the turbine. How important is it that the turbine exhaust be perfectly centered in relation to the tail cone? Because my motor (SW170b) sits about 3/16 high. Hope you can tell that by the pic.

The goal is 100% center in relation with the pipe, pretty important....I would shim the pipe up.

I know it's also sitting a little to the left, it's not bolted in yet. Obviously I can't really lower it without completely redoing the motor mount plate, and interestingly the tail cone is bolted to the same plate, so you'd think they'd be automatically centered, height wise.
So, tear into the motor mount plate, raise the bell opening of the pipe to center it(and consequently possibly affect thrust angle), or don't worry about it??

Adjsut the pipe in both way......thrust can be trim...unlike a prop plane where there’s a lot of side effect...on jet I don’t find that, your not talking about a big move here, the danger is a hot spot.

Strange. Mine lined right up. Dumb questions. Can you mount the turbine on the bottom side of the rails? Is it possible the turbine mount is flipped over or something and not on the correct side?

Ring mount appears to be perfectly centered, but I'll flip it over and try. What also sucks is the mount plates in the fuse aren't perfectly centered so I can't use them to measure off of. Having to get a little creative.
