Haven't seen the F-18 BUT I have a lot of time on the Cougar. It is a great flying jet. Ours is using a K120 motor and it is a half throttle cruiser. The lights look great. It is very aerobatic. Lands very easy, but you need to keep the brakes serviced (greased). it can be used as a trainer also. It is that good.

I have the F18. I haven't flown it yet but it appears to be solid. I replaced the flap, aileron and stab servos with JR ones. 3 out of the 6 would not center...as much as 3/16's of an inch off.

Dustin @ Horizon is a huge fan of the F/A-18.. Says it's the sleeper of the entire BVM PNP line, and probably the best value going.. All the video I've seen looks like it flies REALLY well.

I have a Cougar. I’d really like Dustin’s schemed F-18 but I limit myself to two jets at a time, one scale and one sport. I’m down in Houston flying at their rally and yesterday, the winds were wild. And that’s coming from someone who flies in Lubbock! Today is supposed to be even worse. It’s hard to describe my feelings for the Cougar. It’s a scale jet but flies easier than most sport jets. I also took out the KT100 and put the 120 in it which, i feel, is an absolute must. It flies ok with the 100 but is a totally different airframe with the 120. By the time you drop the airbrakes, flaps that cover 3/4 of the wing and gear, I was needing 60% throttle in the pattern. With the 120, there’s a little better margin at the exact same weight of the turbine. I’ve never said this before of a scale plane and when I sell, I usually go for something different. I’d probably buy another Cougar if I did it again. Although this color scheme is probably the easiest to see, I’m ex Navy and was stationed at Kingsville so I’d want to get a scheme that reflected one of their squadrons. Hope this helps.

How is the servo situation for you? I know a few have already mentioned issues....

We haven’t changed a thing on the Cougar. It keeps plugging along. The only change from stock was the previous owner changed out the wing servo connections to one of those Hansen Hobbies type all in one connection. This has caused a little issue with grounding and the lights but they still work. I would do this myself but probably make two wing connections, one for lights and one for servos. I do know that BVM changed out the air handling units to a different brand in the newer Cougars but haven’t seen them. Never had an issue. My son has a BVM 1/6 F-16 PNP Thunderbird scheme and no issues there either.

I saw the F18 at Florida jets and it was really nice. By far the nicest flying F18 I’ve ever seen in that size category... flew almost as good as the larger version. Bvm/ jetlegend are bringing out some great PNP jets. Looking forward to seeing what they bring out in the future. Does anyone know what they are working on now? I’m hoping they do a PNP version of the 1/8th F15
