Our club has three flying. Kingtech 45, Swiwin 60, and Jets Munt 70. They all fly great. In my last thread I mentioned that I put a double wall pipe in mine (Swiwin 60). The viper with the 70 had his pipe collapse after 12 flights and burned up the back of his fuselage. Luckily for him he was on his take off roll and got it stopped so the damage was only his air frame. These things are so much fun that he immediately ordered another one. I don't think you can go wrong with any engine set up from 45-70.

A buddy just bought one with a 70 and the pipe collapsed with same results. With my small x45 the pipe is almost just a heat shroud but I’m still going to have a friend make it into a dual just in case.

Heli Direct is the US distributor but they aren't making any right now, the factory is concentrating on those goofy looking SAB jets

I was told that you can not have the back hatch open when you run the turbine or it will collapse the pipe. I had a friend weld a double wall and stiffeners to the original pipe for heat and strength. I thought this would only be needed on 60 or above turbines and I'm surprised with a 45. I don't know where you can get a modified pipe but somebody else might know.

Don’t run it with back hatch off, causes a collapse.

Andy's mostly correct. They are on back order through HeliDirect and most likely will not be available for at least another 3 or 4 months. Good winter project. ;-) The factory that made the Vipers is the same one that was making the new SAB Goblin Kraken and Drake helicopters and the SAB Avio jet line. Because they were new and just coming out, they took precedence.

We (JAG RC) are not selling the Vipers anymore because of a conflict of interest since Greg also works for HeliDirect. However, we do still sell the landing gear (Electron and HSD), turbine conversion, and JP EDF motors. We do have the larger 250 Viper though.

You don't need a double wall pipe for the Viper.

If you're worried about heat get some BVM heat shield and paint the hatch and the glass around it.

It's so short you won't notice any benefit

This is a picture of the collapse pipe. I'm hoping you are right about the Viper not needing a double wall pipe and maybe the turbine cone to pipe measurement or a manufacturing defect is to blame. BarracudeHockey, you are very familiar with this install.
