Default Does US costums charge duties on used model jets coming in

Anyone has any experience with this
drive over from US , pick up a used jet in Canada, drive back
is this considered personal effect , ie, no charger on import ?
thanks

There is no duty but they will most likely need a bill of sale (proof of purchase value) printed to show customs and they will quite possibly have to pay their state tax on the item. I have sold a couple jets that people in Washington state bought and came and picked up. As long as they had a bill of sale there was no issues.

Of course as always sometimes you get that border agent who is just out to ruin your day. Not sure if it varies from state to state either. Just know how it was for the guys from washington who bought from me here in BC.

Strap it to the hood of your car and tell then it's just the hood ornament.

Better yet, tell them you are coming back from a jet meet and going back home with your jets ( make sure your info is on them )

don't know how it is for you guys in the US coming to canada and going back is but here if you are going down to a US meet you need to have your items registered with canada customs to prove it was already yours.

Just put a cat in the cockpit and tell them it's a fancy cat carrier. It will help if you name the cat Maverick or Goose.

Haven't tried it with a used model especially from Canada, you folks have some really cantankerous Customs people. That said, the USA does not have any import duty on model airplanes/equipment.

Go buy a crashed airframe for 50$ and paint it on the same colors , bin it once you arrive in Canada , and return with the new one
