You may want to rethink the JR statement above not so sure JR is gone. Just came from Toledo show, large booth and long time futaba flyer Frank Noll wearing a JR shirt.

ROFL, I bet that pained Uncle Frank..... I was bummed they left, we need as many brands as we can. One, for price lowering and better toys... Two, so everyone can trot out the ford vs chevy debate until we're all blue in the face..... ;-)

Most people will wear whatever shirt they have to when it comes time to pay the mortgage.

All I am saying that stating “JR is gone” is a false statement. Both great products.

I am so happy Futaba is coming out with the"32". Been using the brand since the 80's Always worked for me, currently I have the T16SZH. NO complaints here about the telemetry. I've got most of their sensors and they all work fine, Powerbox mercury teleconverter transmits the telemetry ok. Someone on this post mentioned no talking timer. Mine talks very well(female voice) and can either count up or down. I will admit it is a expensive brand, paying for the name I guess? However my point is that I feel Futaba is a good make and we should all be anxiously waiting for the new dream radio to come out...

Actually, JR is gone. Dee Force owns all the trademarks patents etc. and still makes equipment, JR Americas does not make anything it's merely a name used by the previous hobby shop who took over the JR import/distributorship when Horizon gave it up.

Well Frank and Bill Baxter were two of the higher paid folks that Hobbico got rid of trying to save the company before the Bankruptcy.

That was me who mentioned the taking timer and that is one thing that pisses me off, that they put it in their newer radios, but screw the guys with the 18MZ.

I was told in Toledo today 30 proportional channels and price close to the 18 MZ. That would be great!

Great would be priced at or below a Jeti 24. Priced somewhere close to an 18MZ is par for the course for Futaba unfortunately. The 18 MZ even when it first came out was priced about 1K more than it should have been for what it was/is IMO.

I didn’t even know my 18SZ had that option. I’m going to have to check that out.

Can you tell if that includes the VAT? If it doesn't, that'll make it about 20% more than the 18MZ over here.

That’s including 19% tax in Germany.
Makes it very nearly identical to UK price for the 18MZ.

The 18SZ does have a talking timer - its just not in the manual when I purchased mine... I had a friend (who somehow knew about it) set up one of my models with it...

Yeah, I set a couple of my jets up with the talking timer last night. Easy stuff. Hopefully get a chance to try it out this weekend in Mississippi and see how I like it.

Only problem is the sound is not loud enough if anyone else is flying. I wish they would fix that and also the screen turned all the way up is not bright enough in Sunlight. I wanted to be able to assign a voice to a switch on the SZ16 but Futaba told me I would have to spend for a 18MZ if I wanted that feature. It is funny how for $100 I can get that feature from FRsky but can't on a $800 radio. I do love the FUTABA and it's programming but they really need to get on the ball and give people what other cheaper radios do or they will end up just like JR.

I can certainly assign a voice switch, any switch on my T16SZ. The volume ia ok, I agree could be louder. Maybe a more masculine voice🤔? 🏋

Yes you can set a switch to give telemetry info. You can't have your switch say landing gear up or Flaps up etc.

Typical Japanese business practice... Don't innovate too quickly. Just keep selling what you sell, the customer will deal with it.
Pity.. I have LOTS of Futaba stuff including the 18mzh. You might think they would design a more robust Tx antenna..but no. They make a cheap one. a $3000 radio and they stay cheap.. Don't be surprised if Futaba goes the way of JR.

Had the FF7C, the 8FG, the 14MZ with TM 2.4Ghz module and now have the 18MZ and never, never, broke or needed replacing an antenna. So not a real or serious issue for me.

Best Regards
