Byron F15c Project

For the gear I had a friend make the original byron plastic frame out of alum and increase the range of motion so the wheel would retract into the fuse more. I also went with a electric actuator to retract the wheels. One of the problems with the original gear was how high they were in the fuse, this gave the plane a very low stance. I lowered my bracket so that the gear sits in the proper position. My unit is bolted to 1/4 inch ply and attached to the side of the fuse. I will be adding bulkheads to make it rigid.

Cool, I started this build thread, with my byron f-15, but the guy that has it now, on this thread bought it from me, and really doing a better job, then I was going to do, glassing the wing, aftermarket retracts, just doing a great on it, can't wait to see them.

Progress update on Byron F15 turbine conversion
Here's a few pictures of my F15 turbine install. It's been a while since I updated. I read back over some of the earlier posts here, and ran across post #158 where I mentioned I'd been sick with the flu. I have to say it was a very weird flu, nothing like I'd experienced before. Of course, none of us had any idea of the tsunami that was about to come. Soon after post #158, the big Pandemic hit us and I always wondered if I actually had Covid. Guess I'll never know, but isolating gave many of us the biggest building season we've ever seen. I hardly flew at all, all summer long. I can't say the extra time really made much difference. I got more done when there wasn't time.
FINALLY FINISHED MY DIY CUSTOM SADDLE TANKS. LEAK TESTED OK!
THIS IS A HOME MADE UAT. THE 2ND ONE I'VE MADE.
I ALWAYS MAKE MY OWN AIR TANKS FROM ALUM HAIR SPRAY PRESSURE CANS.
3D PRINTED FESTO TUBE GUIDES TO KEEP THE STIFF TUBE CURVES FROM MESSING UP THE SEALS.

I hope not as well.
This forum has provided me with a wealth of information and opinions, invaluable to someone just starting out in the “turbine world”.
I wish previous posters would continue, or at least mention where the discussion had moved to.

Yes, I agree, I started this Byron F-15c post and sold the project to mikes68charger, I started a Fiebao 1/6 scale F-16 project, it's at 80% done, but been sitting for a year and a half, like all or some project they take a back sit some times, but never forgotten, mikes68charger was doing a great job on the byron F-15c, then other byron F-15c owner jump in which made it more exciting, hoping to see more on the byron project, thanks guys.

Lately, I've added a 2nd big spar the the F15C wings. Getting a new spar to slide into the fuse smoothly without fighting the existing spar was quite a mental block to progress. But that part is done now, thankfully. Once the hole was bored for the aluminum tube, I had to channel out the wing to add a reinforcement rib, then fill the channel and glass it on the surface. Here's couple pics. Also, I designed an ejection seat which is being 3D printed.
This is the home made hole saw I used to bore the new spar hole. I did it with the wing installed and engaged with the original spar.

I am not unhappy about that either. Zuckerberg is kinda people-dumb. He renames his company because Facebook was starting to get a bad name, partly because its everywhere, like taking over. So, his new name is Meta. Which happens to mean "everywhere". Way to go, genius. That's a lot less threatening.
