Nice close up pass from the jet rally. Love this jet so much I ordered a 2M version, and considering a Pro version!

Three flights yesterday, she flies great. X45 ran fantastic. Incredible vertical and lands super light! 7 minute flights only used 50% if the fuel load.

Really pleased with my setup!

Awesome Bob! Congratulations. I am at the turbine install phase and its been a typical CARF build.
Should have mine ready by the time the snow completely melts. So....40oz was about right?

Congratulations Bob
How much of the flight was at full throttle? I was curious his “Hard” you’d have to push the X45 for normal / cruising flight.
How far would you estimate the take off run was?

That X45 seems like the ultimate power for this jet. I’m glad to hear it is running well.

40 ounces of fuel is plenty!
I cruised at just below half stick.
I like nice smooth takeoffs nothing is more ugly to me than a jet that gets jerked off the ground since I have 800 feet of runway I’m never in a hurry to depart terra firma.
As I get a few more flights I can comment more accurately as to how much runway is needed at a minimum

I find the included linkage has a little slop. This is partly do to the holes in the MKS servo arms being a little to big. Have others lived with the slop or upgraded to ball joint linkage.

a drop of CA on the clevis and servo horn did the trick for me. Still solid after 20+ flights.

Default Successful maiden flight

I was finally able to maiden the Rebel today. This was my first turbine flight and it couldn't have gone smoother.

Level speed I guess is very similar 45 or 70N but vertical speed with the 70 would be the way to go...and I would think longer flights as full power would be required less.
X45 pushes the model just fine and does not require a lot of throttle. Flight times are easily 10-12 minutes with plenty of reserve fuel.
I could not be happier!
Landings are really slow too.

First flight complete. Only issues were a little nose heavy and the aileron rates were a little high. It was a breezy day and she wiggled a little in flight but landing and takeoff were both uneventful. Super Bee II for power. At half throttle she gets small quick

Nice Jet Gary! My only complaint is that I have not been able to fly it as much as I would like due to the weather.

factory cg is WAY conservative. Back of the carbon tube with 1/4 tank is still conservative but safe. As for roll rate, that's personal taste. I like around a 1.5-2 roll/ sec on a vertical UP line. Probably twice what most like. I tame it down with expo. I do negative snaps with mine that are a blur and stop as soon as they start.

Yes Mark that was Nighthawks field last Sunday. Roger maidened his Excaliber plus as well. It was a good day.

Dean I had the factory settings for rates and CG. I generally like a fast roll rate but this was just too much. It was kind of a breezy day and I was happy to get the maiden done so I put it away for the day. I'll probably back the high rate down 5-10% and set a mid and low rate and see whats feels good.

Just ordered a green launch scheme from Mike Mcconville. I plan to install my k60 with stock pipe and fuel tank from carf and supplied JP gear.

How many are running gyros and is it really needed on this jet?

I am only running an lg-15 gyro gear controller to help with take offs n braking. Flight gyro not needed, imo, but it wouldn't hurt.

I run gyro in all my jets.....it always help smooth out the turbulence from the winds......really needed no.

Gyro not needed. But it sure is nice to have on those windy days when it’s a crosswind. Also makes the plane fly much bigger. I substituted a Xicoy LGC 13 gear controller for the stock in it.
The 13 allows you change the Cutoff current to the retract units. The stock value has worked perfectly. It is lighter than the JP unit. It also turns off the brake and steering Function when the gear is retracted and during extension until the gear is down and locked,
