Bob,
When you take more pictures tonight can you check something for me, on you fuselage where the tab for the hatch goes in right below the vertical fin. I did a little more looking over of things today and I found the that fuselage former is cut right through just behind the hatch tab. This appears to be an opps from the factory since now there is no structural strength at his point. I looked at your posted pictures and yours looks not to be cut through, can you check and let me know? I attached a couple of pictures to show you what i'm talking about.
Thanks
Robert

Dave I’m really surprised that you would say something like this. The fuse at this location with the touch of two fingers will open a crack that is about 1.5” long right to the base of the vertical fin. I find it hard to believe that at this location there is no structural importance to the former in the fuselage. I also find it hard to believe that Comp ARF would design this location as such and say that the former is just because we wanted to. I had a look a Rebel last weekend and this former is also in this location and it was not cut and is set back further so that it does not interfere with the hatch mechanism. I asked Bob to look at his to double check his Hot since the posted pictures look very clear that this former is not cut and is set back further. So once I get the information from Bob as well as from a flying buddy of mine who has one on its way I will reach out to Comp ARF to see how they would like to resolve the issue.
Thanks,
Robert

OK, I’ve not got first hand experience on the Hot, but I don’t see how a former there can be structural, it’s no different than an Ultra Flash which has no former at that point and a notch going to the top skin. If you lift the Fuse there it would crack, same on the UF and many models. The cloth tape is the strength on the inside.
Anyway, CARF will respond, maybe I should have let you wait for a response from them! We will see.

I'd just cut a piece of 1/8" plywood to fit on the backside of the former and glue it on then drill the needed hole. Make it about 1.5" long for gluing surface and it will be just as strong as the former would have been were it not cut through. Hardly seems worth stalling on a project for when it's a 3 minute fix.

I like the look of this to, especially interested to see how the x45 equipped one does weight wise. That former lol as said a 5 minute repair/patch and sorted, if that's the only gripe that can be found out the box I would be happy.

I have the same decision to make, I have a x45 in a mini avanti, amazing engine, I think it will be ok in the rebel if flying off tarmac but we fly off grass a lot so I am leaning towards a 70, will see if there are any deals at jetpower
