No idea how much is gear, strut or controller. It’s a bit like turbine weight differences between turbine only or installed system weight

I have a deposit on a custom color swap Rebel
Hot (September delivery for winter build)
In order to “build and fly light” I am planning JP retracts/struts but will not use their controller; instead I will use a Xicoy (better braking performance and perhaps a bit lighter due to case design differences)
Go with the Stock gear and then order the Xicoy LGC 13 gear controller, it weighs about a third of the JP Unit. I run my X45 and the gear from a 2S 2000 lipo approved by Gaspar and has worked perfectly.
I did not even have to change the value in the Gear Controller.

Not easy to paint on the Hot, but CARF worked it out...looks sweet.

Holy cow! Being that I know what the upcharge was for that scheme on the classic, I don't even want to know what it was on the hot!

ĎThe electron might be a little heavier.....not sure but probably, on the up side...you will never have to get any additional parts to make it work efficiently.....or repair down the road...if your like me and never sell planes...

I think the struts of the Er30 Set is where the extra weight is not the retract units.

I have 6 hours of operation on my Hot and retract units have been flawless.

I switched the gear controller to the Xicoy LGC 13 when i did the build.

ĎWell last time I got a er30 set from Electron USA it was $700 and I didnít need to buy an additional $199 unit to make it work...is all Iím saying, let see in 2-3 years....Iím talking long term...I donít sell my jet so my Electron could also be recycle.....as an example, my Harlock Viper retract are now in the mini T-1....just had to change a few parts....

The JP retracts plus controller from CARF are shown at $399 USD, so even if you add $100 for a Xicoy LGC13, it’s still less expensive (and presumably lighter) than ER30’s at $700 installed

Also FWIW, there is now a new stock scheme for the Hot ... the Infinity scheme
$100 up charge over the stock launch schemes

I get a lot of folks buying the LGC12-15 to replace the JP controllers, hard to keep them in stock and at 399 for the JP controller Im not sure why u would go that route since the LGCs are much cheaper.

My bad
I was looking at the price of 75 Euro on the Xicoy site and rounded it off to $100 USD for this discussion.
https://www.xicoy.com/catalog/produc...roducts_id=266

I had no idea it was now $199 USD, sorry

Edit... I think I know where $199 came from
The LGC15 is $199
Thr LGC13 is $102 USD and the LGC12 is $85 USD

So the JP retracts from CARF for $399 plus a Xicoy LGC13 would be about $499 compared to 525 Euro ($620 USD) for a set of ER30 with an RB45 controller

https://www.electron-retracts.com/pr...ebel-hot-carf/

$120 less for JP plus lighter.

Most of the JP complaints are based on controller/braking issues AFAIK

FYI Electron Gear Set weight with GS-200 is 765g on my el cheapo digital food scale. Everything weighed that will be installed in plane. Might go +/- a few grams I weighed all wiring that was in box. Steering servo not included in weight.

Great. Looks like I got HOSED. I was the first in the states to get a Rebel in that infinity scheme, on a 2M classic and a Pro. I was charged a $500 fee to put that scheme on the just classic!!!

That price is for the gear, wheels, brakes, AND controller! The JP controller itself is only like $25...

The problem is that, only the LG15 is programmable And maybe the new LG19 pro.....the other one are specific to gear sold with it......when I was running JP I change the controller to Xicoy, back then it was still $175......so not cheap and it marginally fixed the brake issued I had, and after a few years start having more thing to fix on the gear...motor and bearing falling apart....
