I'm going from a X45 to K70. The idle thrust will be doubled, I wonder if this will make landing it harder.

Figured as much. I'll leave it as is.

if you read the thread I weighed mine before and after painting to see and I think the figure was 26g added. That’s less than some extra stuff people install.
I think it’s worth it.

I think a light color, like white, is the best for the inside of an airplane, It makes it easier to see the stuff,
I like to coat the bare wood with epoxy resin or polyurethane to protect it from fuel and dirt. I am too lazy to paint the insides like Dave does, but it sure looks good.

Just grey primer from a rattle can. White takes too many coats and shows all the dirt.

Another Hot finished, I elected not to test fly Gary’s Hot today as we had a 20mph 90 degree cross wind. Mine handled it fine, but it’s set up and the Powerbox gyro is active. This can wait a week for better weather.

Default Hot interior paint

Here’s a couple of images of my Hot interior with a dark textured spray paint from Rust-oleum. First time doing this on a jet, thought it came out OK. May do it again on my next project.

Thanks! The spay I used worked best when held about a foot away from the surfaces. Knowing this I had to mask the fuselage pretty well so I went to the kitchen and grabbed the roll of Saran Wrap and quickly wrapped the entire fuselage. I then used a new x-acto blade and cut out the openings for the turbine and the electrical components. To hold the edges in place around the openings I just used some blue tape. After spraying the wrap came off pretty quick. It did not take long from start to finish.

Hi,
My K70G4 Rebel Hot comes in at 6.2kg w/ a full UAT and batteries. It holds about 1.7l of fuel so takeoff weight will be 7.6kg (16.6lbs).
How does this compare to others that used the similar set ups?
There is nothing extra in mine and I'm running a single battery.
I'm starting with the CG on the wing tube.

With no fuel in the tank, I just filled the UAT.
I am waiting on 3200MAH batteries, I currently have a 2200 in the nose. So, the CG will move forward.

What is the best CG spot for full header tank and empty main tank. I can move stuff around. But I don't want to end up with a too sensitive airplane on the 1st flight.

I balanced mine with about 1/4 of a tank, and full UAT.

Bob,
Where did you set the CG? I've read somewhere that up to 10mm behind the wing tube is okay.

I started at the back of the tube and fine tuned with flights, I like an aft CG.

Mine is at the back of the wing tube with a full UAT, it's done nothing goofy on me and I have a bunch of flights on it

Since we all plan to land with something in the main tank I’ve never understood balancing with the tank empty! That is especially true when ALL the fuel is in front of the balance, it will have a huge influence. Mine flys great with the heavy P-60, knife edge horizon to horizon without full power or full rudder. It feels perfectly balanced. I’m sure mine is towards the back of the wing spar without the canopy, with landing fuel in the main tank.
I put my fingers under the lip and lift…chuck the fancy load sensor chocolate tea pots in the trash 😉

Two more Rebel Hot test flights today, P-60SE powered Yellow Infinity and Swiwin 80 (out of one of the HSD foamies) Blue. All four models performed well on our wet winter grass field, my mod of a 6-8mm packer between nose retract and mount makes a huge difference on the take off distance. All have CARF/MacGregor 2810 servos and JP gear.

Getting mine completed and discovered something today with the tail servos. I went with MKS HV737 servos all around. So far have only hooked up the tail servos with extensions I made myself from 22 G wire bought from Hansen Hobbies. The tail servos jitter when sitting idle, and jitter quite a bit when giving stick input. I have read elsewhere that those servos do this when using long leads, which seems to be the case. Wish I would have know this in advance of buying them. Anyway, what servos are you all using or if you are using the HV737's how did you overcome the jitter?

Thanks.

I'm using a Spektrum ix20 transmitter with an AR9030T rx. I'm using two 2,000mah lipo packs running through an AR Smooth Flite 16 gyro system.

I think it’s a timing issues, the 737 are 333 hz servo but might not like the ar16? Not sure if you have the ability to change the timing, normally on jeti I do auto for all the MKS….but I have run on some build we’re I had to change that for the savox….but that was all jeti stuff….maybe someone will chim in about the ar16…
