Here's how i did front wheel cover on mine:

Made the print and cut the opening with disc then cut aluminium mesh from Vario approx 3-5mm larger on each side, placed over the opening and melt it in with a flat soldering tip.
Took me about 2 hours for both sides. I think it looks nice and allows the engine to breathe. There was little to no dirt inside.

Yes thats a X90 dialed back to 80, but will dial down even further to 75 or even less in future flights. I never went over 3/4 throttle, takeoff aside, it is simply too fast for my liking at least in this stage.
It came out 6.02 kg dry with X90, grummania pipe, electron gear, CMjets 1.5L tank, Intairco hopper and MKS 737/747 servos + Jeti Rex12+Rsat2+RcSw and DSM-10 for power. 4x 1300/2s packs, 2 for RC and two in parallel for engine and gear.
It balanced perfectly at back of the wing tube but i added 25g in nose for a peace of mind afterwards. Will remove it gramm by gramm as i gain confidence over next few flights.

Did more flights today, is very nice flying airplane so different to my older turbinator, this is much easier to fly and land!! One thing i noticed is that i have to give up elevator on turns, maybe my cg is too forward? must be in middle/back wing tube, hard to get a precise measurement.

Well im not able to make this thing brake in a more or less straight way.
I was also told on other forum to do what instructions pdf for controller says to adjust that, just like this video shows and to try a gyro
But no worked for me, so next thing to try is a gyro.
The Assan G-63 pro seems to work ok based on comments and its a lot less that the xicoy xg15 so maybe worth a try.....
I also see there are a AG86 that includes a retract controller... someone use that one with the jp retracts? Only one device sounds better that two for me

I see, so for example with electron wheels/brakes and the basic xicoy controller will be enough? I mean no braking gyro need?
I don't need a super straight brake, problem now is that its super unbalanced looks like i will end creating slop or blending something as it turns very hard to right even my efforts to polish and adjust mechanical brakes.
I mean i'm not looking for perfection, just a reasonable thing

Just to clarify myself.
When we talk about the 68, we mean using the brake and retract controller no? in this case don't using the jp controller at all...
And with the 63 will be, using jp controller for retract and the assan for brakes.
In my previous jet i had also the jp brakes and it also don't brake straight, but was usable..... in this one isn't
Thanks

I will order an AG68 then as i prefer to have only one unit to control all related to retract/brake, if still not ok then i will change wheels and brakes for electron as i can keep the AG controller.
I just read the pdf and its mentioned that controller has a "adaptation mode" to detect gear positions, i assume to detect current stall to determine end and not burn motor.
To use it with the ER120 that comes with the rebel will be need to do this adjust?
As i have 0 experience with those, any comment about the 68 before making the order?
Regards,
Jose

Finally i buy a AG63pro from rc-castle.... and what a difference!!!
It brakes perfectly straight and as a bonus point it tracks like an arrow on the tarmac, its the first time i used a brake gyro and now this is a must for me... i didn't know how i was flying jets without this!!!

I'm considering in adding a gyro to the plane, it fly wonder as is but i would like to try if it makes a difference?
As i fly jeti i think an assist receiver will be more clean install than a cortex but not decided yet what to choose.
I need to build a plate to install the assist or the cortex, and that plane needs to be perfectly parallel to flight line? So i can use the lips of the fuse to fix the plate (as most of the builds do)??

Jose

From what I have seen with Jeti it won’t work with the un ducted turbine. It will glitch and jump with the turbine running…
Nose retract plate is level, that is where my iSat sits

Hello
My Jp controller decided to stop working.... its the second one as the first that come with the kit did not work so im considering getting a xicoy one.
What basic xicoy controller can be used? LGC22?? And what amp parameter must be set so dont burn the jp controller
Maybe is a good idea to dissemble the retract and grease it, just in case it was causing the controller malfunction, any special consideration to dissemble and ensemble?

My Feedback: (1)

I have the Xicoy LG12 in my Rebel Hot w/ JP gear and I don't remember changing the settings. It works good. I run my gear at 8V without any issues.
I started a thread here about the settings needed for the JP ER120 retracts. Here is the information JP sent:
Hi-
JP Hobby responded to my request for information. I'll post it here to help others:
The ER-120 motor working information is below.
Working Voltage:5V-7.2VMax locked-rotor current:1.0A
Unfolding Speed:5V/5.2s . 6V/4.3S . 7.2V/3.5S
It turned out the unfolding speed was off by a factor of 10 and a little more current was needed. I used a LG22 in an Avanti XS.

Thanks for the precise info!!
I think i found the root cause, my nose gear stopped working so i dissembled it and with only the motor in hand it doesn't move free... its like brushes are rubbing or something, for curiosity i plugged it in a old jp controller... and i get a magic puff with a white smoke from controller....
Clearly motor is faulty, i didn't had a bad landing or a crash so maybe it was just bad luck, anyone had this problem?
Xicoy controller is ordered and regarding the nose gear i'm trying to source all the nose retract (except strut) just in case something is binding and caused the motor to burn.... if not i will order only the motor

Jose

I have logged more than 60 flights on my rebel, and after solving those small issues i had with my retracts, everything has been working great and i'm really enjoying the plane.
My cg is still to forward and i fly with up trim to get level-flight, now i wanted to tune it sending the cg backwards (to the point that Dave told me).
One option as i don't want to add weight in the back is to reduce the RX battery (i currently have a li-ion 3300 jeti), the 2600 jeti li-ion weights the same so not an option....
I have a 2s 1600 SLS lipo that i can try (aprox 40grs less weight), but i'm scared if its too low on capacity.... how many flights i can expect on that one? Its too low to be safe?
