Hey Dave, its been done in an EDF version now!
Don't want to start a debate, but some of us have Turbine restrictions to live with.

I wonder if the added vents behind the canopy are necessary?

The intakes are not big enough to feed the fan as they are so yes, the vents are necessary.

I was under the impression that for an edf the intake sweet spot is 90% of the fan FSA. I am surprised the rebel intakes are not large enough.

Exit 90% maybe, inlet needs lots of air. I think the Rebel series inlets are a little small for turbines!

From Schluber
...For very fast Jets it is possible to minimise the inlet up to 90% FSA in order to avoid overloads at high speed due to congestion at the inlet area tube.....
Thrust tube exit can be down as low as 70%. However, the lower you go, the higher the efflux speed and the faster your jet will go theoretically. But it cost static thrust and will take longer to get there. 90% FSA on the thrust tube exhaust is considered a good middle of the road between static thrust and speed.
I love my turbine Rebel and would not go back, but I think it's pretty awesome that someone made a electric version of the Rebel. To my knowledge it's the lightest 2m composite Rc jet in the size so it makes a great candidate. Well done.

In any case, the builder did an excellent job of adding the vents.

I worked very closely with Daniel for several years. I also converted a CARF Hawk to EDF with a DS-94 and he said it had the best performance he’d seen in that conversion….lots of little tricks to get that to work even from a short grass strip and fly for 7 mins

Good to know! I just got some Hysol 9462. There are so many different Hysol, which do you use?

I attended a warbird event at my local club and met a guy that makes custom harness and cables/connectors. I had him make the harnesses for the wings and also servo extensions with 20 AWG wires for my Rebel. It came to $69 including shipping which I thought was a good deal. His name is Ray and his email is [email protected]. I thought I share his info in case someone else is interested.

I purchased a 3l CM Jets tank for my Rebel. The CM Jet tank is shorter and wider compared to the long cylindrical tank CARF supplies. Because of the dimensional differences, the CM Jet tank's CG is approximately 75mm closer to the aircraft CG point. So, the aircraft CG will shift rearwards less during flight as fuel is consumed as compered to the CARF tank. I think this make the CM Jet a better design. However, few folks (if any) have issues with the stock tank, this only makes me happy as an engineer

Has anyone used Carf touch-up paints after a repair? Do you need to clear coat them? Did they match? How long did it take to get them?

Just curious how your Rebel 2m flies with the Swiwin 140? I plan on doing the same setup

Looks like 320 some flights is all the JP retracts are good for. LOL

I have new units on the way.

Pretty good life with as much dirt flying as we do.

Not the smoothest video, but most of a flight from today with ‘old boy’ Andrew Perkins example powered by a JetCat P-130Rx ( no part of this flight uses full power)

More Rebel 2m models for the growing fleet in my local club. Std Orange scheme that will be JetCat P-140Rx powered and Infinity scheme ARF Plus with the new tank fittings that will have a JetCat P-130RX. Both will be Core/Powerbox throughout

Dave
When did they switch fittings?
Is this across the whole Rebel line or across the CARF product line?
Was there a problem or reason?

It’s just happening now, so it depends when the kit was made. No problem with the original system, just the fact that people don’t want to ‘make’ things. There are other advantages to the new system.
