CARF REBEL 2m
#502

I had a harsh landing and damaged the fuse few months ago. I bought another airframe and in process of moving components over. I used CF tubes in the 1st one to run the tail servo wires. In the 2nd one, I am just running the wires on the right side. Has anyone run the wires without covering them?

them?

them?

Nice job keeping the wires back. I typically line the inside of the fuse with aluminum tape from the front of the turbine all the way back to protect the fuse. This to keep the heat off the fuse and protect it from a potential hot-start.
For the servo and lamp wires, I always have put the wring in "snakeskin, which is heat resistant and mount them back from the pipe. If the wires have to get close to the pipe, I even wrap some aluminum tape over the snakeskin. After putting the wires in the snakeskin, I use a ~1/2" wide piece of aluminum tape on the ends of the snakeskin to keep the snakeskin from unraveling. DreamworksRC has the snakeskin. But this is just what I do. Some folks don't want the added weight, etc. I bump up the power typically anyway. So a little extra weight is not a big deal, for me.

My Feedback: (1)

The sides of the fuselage don't get hot. The insulation on your wire have a higher temperature rating than the fuselage materials do. So, the wires are okay without more protection. However, the weak link is the double sided tape that holds the clips to the fuselage. They could fall off and then the wires could rub against the pipe. So, adding silver tape (furnace duct tape) is not a bad idea. I'd imagine, since the tape is made for furnace/boiler flues that its adhesive has a higher temperature rating than the double sided tape (use rated tape with a UL or FM listing). The aluminum tape is very light. I used it is a foam turbine conversion and using tape with a HAB single wall pipe was lighter than a double walled pipe.

Test flight today. Couple of peeps of trim and it was grooving like all the other Rebel 2m airframes I have test flown.
Happy owner after the first flight.

This cheers me up a bit. I was wondering too. I have the light kit here. But I am still waiting on the airframe that I ordered last Fall. Was told April for delivery. Guess it is time to check on a revised delivery date guesstimate. Probably sitting offshore near CA someplace.

Thank you David, we fly off not so perfect grass and mostly in wet season so we take any weight advantage we can get. I just got an X45 for a Jeemo so thought to try the x 120 too. Good to her from someone that is using them.

Latest in the airforce of local Rebel 2m models. Picked a colour swap for this customer since he said he didn’t want one the same as all the rest!
JetCat P-130Rx, MAP bubble trap, felt clunk,Powerbox Mercury, MacGregor servos same as the other 11.
