Next project 2 The revenge of the Turbinator
Most of you know what's the deal here, close to 11 years in the making, dragged to the bay area and back to Sac more than once, build around 10 jets and a few prop airplanes in between, that is it, in a nut shell.
The Kangaroo is all dialed in and the engine is running just fine, I had two flights on it yesterday and all is good now, it has been put to sleep for the moment.
The Turbinator is next, I have all the parts needed to complete, turbine and all ( K80G1 ) it will carry a 100oz. Dubro fuel tank, JR servos combine with some Hitec ones, the retracts were added during the build, they came from a FieBao T45 that I had for a very short time ( only one landing on them ) it will use TamJets control horns, Futaba 6014HS 14chls receiver, the main retracts are also from FeiBao, the nose reteact is the same one that was used on the TamJets F-18s, big, strong and heavy, it will help balance it, Monokote all around, the fuse was build per the plans ( except for the nose retract mount ) the wing also per the plans, the optional extra tip bay that is recomended to be added if you fly from high altitude fields was also added during the build to reduce the wing loading ( at least that's the idea )
Now, the why I haven't completed it after all these years? I haven't got a clue ( any psychologist out there? ) that is all, now is time to build

I´m a psychologist and I suddenly finished my Turbinator after some 5-6 years of indecision and hesitation. The secret lays in the power of your imagination. You just need to visualize yourself at your flying field on a beautiful summer morning performing a perfect maiden with your astonishingly beautiful and perfectly built Turbinator. Then stick to this vison for some months and you are there. So go with the shrinks and feed your dreams. Jannica in Sweden

Now that I made up my mind on the color scheme I think the covering is going to be done much faster.
Some covering done today, I also had a chance to fly the Roo at my previous club today, since I no longer have a problem with sun light in the morning, I will resume my rc flying in the mornings when possible, then I will re-join my previous club to fly there in the mornings and continue been a member of my present club to fly there in the afternoons, one of these days I will be going to both clubs to fly in the morning then fly in the afternoon, should be fun
I'm also building an ARF ( not really ) 30cc Macchi for a friend, busy, busy.
Today was the first time that I've seen/heard a turbine stopping in about 1/10 of a sec in mid air because of a turbine wheel failure, not pretty.

Thank you for dropping by
So far this build has the longest record of all my builds, 11 years this Dec.
Some work been done today, moving slowly but moving as usual, I have set aside time this month and in Dec to do as much as possible on this build, I have a feeling it will be completed by the end of Jan.

Getting some more covering on the Turbo in between other projects, I got a warbird meet at a local field on the 7th, my 10 years old, 6 flights 60 size P-47 is ready, due to my poor vision I stopped flying her around 8 years ago, well, no more, with my renew super vision I now want to fly anything and everything I can get my hands on, the smaller the more challenging

A short note on my P47, I got to fly it twice a couple days ago, what a joy it was to see ( literally ) the P47 back in the air after been in-active for about 8 years, the landings were slow as I remember, I know now I can do a warbird jet in those colors.

Ok, the work has not stopped, Im currently working on 3 projects at the same time.
My friends Macchi, the Turbinator and the Reaction 54.
I glued the Macchi's wings togather ( moving super slow here ) I painted the heat shield for the turbo and I took everything out of the reaction so I can paint the interior with primer gray, I'm doing some small changes to the Reaction's install, I removed the bulkhead #4 to gain more space, removed the wood that was the base for the Jetcat board, a word on that, I decided ( thank you all for this advice ) to fly the Reaction with the K80 and will use the P60 on another project ( I really like small turbines ) the Turbinator will be flown with the P80 out of the Kangaroo ( will keep the Roo as a stand by jet ) the Reaction should be ready to fly by tomorrow, the weather is not that great around here anyways.
