Nearly finished with the assembly of my F-22. Today, installed a sliding tray in the nose to take advantage of that space. Also completed the plumbing of the fuel system and the install of the K-260. Next, will install the canopy and cg the model. Glad to get this one off the table.

Kris, what paint are you using on this one? I seem to remember in prior builds you using everything from auto paint to Testors to latex, or I might be thinking of another poster. Just curious as that's the biggest area of builds I have the least experience with, but looking to refinish a couple with new schemes.

F15 was latex
F84 Model master spray cans
F22 model master little bottles of metallic.
The good part about latex is its easy to touch up and it needs to clear coat. Also its easy to paint.

Reducing. I would mix 4 bottles of aluminum to 1 bottle of graphite so that's 5 little bottles. Then would poor thinner into one of the bottles and fill it 2 times for thinning.
So 5 paint 2 thinner.

I was able to lighten up the camo. Much better now. Next will be painting all the little areas like the apu area and such. Then all the vents.
should be able to have all that done tomorrow night. And might even gloss clear it tomorrow night. Start markings on Wednesday

Lots of painting going on. Got all the little stuff done like the vents and the light gray areas on the fuselage around the apu exhaust refuel probe and other parts.
also sprayed the gloss clear tonight. That will dry overnight then markings start to go on tomorrow. This one is the best one I have painted so far. Hopefully I don’t mess it up doing the markings. Markings are mostly painted on with paint masks. The little stuff is dry transfer. That is why is clear coated in gloss. It will get flat clear after the markings.

Markings going on. Wish I had time to show how to do dry transfers but not on this build I guess. Moving to fast.
so like the real F22 depending on the angle you are will depend on if you see the marking or not. Got more detail stuff to do tonight. Should be ready for flat clear tomorrow I hope.

Markings done. Shot the flat clear. It came out fantastic!! Best one I’ve done yet. Got her in the sun and it has the effect of the markings going away. Then do shade and they are back.
need to wait a few days before weathering so the clear coat can be chemical resistant.
will work on finishing up programming and getting the missiles installed. Might mess with these scale details a little also.
lucky my cockpit was all in tact so no need to mess with that much. Pilot still have 3 servos controlling his head and arms with a computer board programmed to move him.

Took her out for testing. Everything is good and moving onto weathering now.
you can see the missile both move in and out. Along with canopy function and the gun door. Engine ran out of fuel at the end .
