Default BlueSky Smoke Oil

After having to deal with all sorts of shenanigans to get smoke oil, I bit the bullet and bought full scale aviation scale smoke oil.

After shipping (I don't have a forklift at my house so I have to pay $50 for a lift gate option) it all came out to right about $9/gallon for a 55 gallon drum.

Anyone ever try this stuff out?

Super Dry at $57/gallon is a little out of control.

Ravill--Thanks for the heads up on the smoke oil. I just called them and will be ordering a 55 gallon drum pending your results.

Thanks for posting

Cool thanks for the link Raf! Curious, did it arrive in a metal or plastic 55 gallon drum?

Yes, keep us posted! Though I don't know why you don't have a forklift in your garage, geeze!

It doesn't work with model turbines. The $57/gallon stuff contains the fairy dust and unicorn farts required to make regular products work in our toys. It's like that with a lot of hobby products. Like the $3 pack of 4 dubro bolts instead of the $10 pack of 100 from fastenal. No fairy dust or unicorn farts.

Ha!

I remember when Super-dri was $10 a gallon. I would buy 20 gallons at a time.

Super-dri is gooooooodd stuff. But not $57/gallon good.

I'm almost a little offended and feel price gouged. Even super-dri's 55 gallon drum is $25/gallon.

From my past experience, Full Size Smoke oil tends to be thicker than what we are used to when comparing to superdri.
I can comment on this stuff specifically but I have thinned it down with diesel and it works great.

The stuff I have used (not sure of name) in the past, you could feel a big difference if you were using a hand pump to move it. Just something to keep in mind.

Cheers and that's a sweet deal!

The only problem I see with the drum is that the smoke oil won't let your planes do a straight and level pass with the smoke on since it is "aerobatic" smoke oil.

Ha!! LoL!

If I get to dilute this down to get even MORE smoke, then I will be a happy camper!

I use commercial fluid as well and I do because I donít want to burn Diesel for smoke.....and the good pumps are doing fine, these fluid might not work with the bargain $ one...I use PowerBox and KingTech pumps

This fluid was pretty darn good, I have to admit.

After figuring out how to open the darn 55 gallon drum, I used my pump of my smoke jersey modeler to fill it up.

The fluid was clear, odorless and did not leave a lasting residue. The closest I’ve seen to super-dri.

Upon flying, the smoke is thick and white and lingers very well. There were times where I was flying back through my previous smoke trail.

At $9/ gallon, it was worth EVERY penny.

This is a video one of my buddy’s got:
