Default 1/7 Scale F3h2 Demon For 140 Size Turbines

Ultimate Jets is bringing the McDonnell F3h2 Demon to the model jet market in 1/7 Scale. This size is perfect for the new compact 140 turbines available today. The Demon has been one of my “bucket list” planes for a long time! My dad worked on the tooling for them at “MacAir”. I had started drawing a large Demon in CAD a few years ago and then I heard a rumor that Ultimate Jets was in the process of kitting the Demon. After many many conversations with Olivier Nicolas, I ended up with a pre production prototype in my sweaty hands! This is the second airplane pulled from the production tooling. I’ve been asked to assist in the product development of this ARF. Since mine is preproduction, I’m certain a few items will change as the process matures. The model came in a very odd shaped box for a 103” long jet...... it is almost square!

More on this as the story developes!

Tailwinds,

John

Ok Ron, here it is! The fuse splits into three pieces. There are Ultimate Servo Connectors at each joint and the wing connections. This makes transportation and assembly a little easier. The horizontal stabs are keyed in and easily removable along with the vertical fin. All of the control horns are internal. The whole jet came in the box measuring 36” X 46” X 20”.

Tailwinds,

John

After 5 minutes of sliding things together, I have a jet sitting on its gear! ENATA Aerospace does the composite work on Ultimate Jets kits. The company also does UAV work to MILSPEC standards. This is evident in the Demon. When I slid the wings on the carbon spars, they were DEAD ON! I’ve never had a model as accurate as this. The wing/fuse joint is perfect! No filler, no Bondo. It is molded to perfection. The whole airframe is extremely light and rigid due to extensive use of carbon fiber.

Tailwinds,

John

The definitive Demon intakes!

Check out the surface derail

62” wingspan with a 32” root cord.

3D printed landing gear detail.

Huge leading edge devices!.

That looks so realistic. In the end it will be hard to tell it from a full sized one in photos.

Nice jet! It looks fantastic. Love the panel work. I wonder what it weighs.

The #1 ship weighs 32.5 lbs ready to fly. Just perfect for a 140

Love the fact that they are doing airplanes that you never see modeled. The Demon is a cool jet, looking forward to following the build.

UJ, I’m planning on painting it in VF-31 colors after the shake down flights.

It will be great to see something very different. Best of luck on the shake down flights.
