Unlocking Xicoy controllers

Yeah I had a couple I sold from Gaspar that were not unlocked for some reason(slipped through the cracks) and it was a simple firmware update to achieve this so I was wondering why the fella above said it wasnt possible.

I decided not to change them at this point - too much of a hassle...

I'm not going to get into so big debate but the the Xicoy controllers you buy vs what they sell to jet manufactures have different firmware. Gaspar has sent people the firmware when required and the Xicoy turbines are not just a name change. Sorry you had a bad experience

Just to clear things up. These controllers you are talking about here are not Xicoy brand. They are brand Electron retracts. These have a special firmware developed under the Electron specifications and contract. Xicoy is not allowed to sell or modify any of these, as there are warranty issues linked to their use (or misuse). It is best to contact Electron Retracts. It is the same case as turbine ecus, we are not allowed to unlock wren/jetcentral/jetsmunt/kingtech... ecus.
All that Xicoy can do is to modify these units to xicoy standard, including boxes and stickers, to transform to xicoy brand, in this way the references to elctron/etc dissapear, no link/warranty claims possible-
It is the same as if you take the ecu of your car, go to ecu manufacturer (Bosch, for example) asking for to unlock it. Bosch will not do it.
