Default What has been happening in the last 18 months?

I have been away from the hobby for 18 months or so. It is going to be a while before I can get back into it, but I recently perused the forum to see what's been going on, and it doesn't seem like an awful lot.

Can someone update me on what, if anything has happened over the last 18 months?

Have people been managing to get out and fly? Do we have any new manufacturers and/or have we lost any due to the current economic/health climate?

Has there been any new toys released, or are there any expected?

Hopefully there will still be an active hobby for me to come back to when I am able.

Iím not quite sure why the passive aggressive responses.

Iíve been living in the USA for 18 months and have barely looked at RCU in that time. I havenít had a chance to fly anything and have lost touch with what is going on.

I did look back through the past few pages but that doesnít give me any idea of whatís going on in the hobby. It was.a genuine request for information; if you donít want to help then feel free not to comment.

Lots of great jets still available and lots of places to fly.

Still, lots of ways to spend your money!

The water will be nice and warm when you get back.

Glad to hear the hobby is still alive and kicking.

I genuinely wasnít sure how it was faring. Along with the new rules on both sides of the pond, with respect to UAV regulations, and shipping/production problems, as well as the restrictions on travel, I didnít know if it was still growing or if it has taken a bit of a downturn. I have literally been too busy to even go out and fly the foamies that I have with me, so am more out of the loop than Iíve ever been.

I have another 2 years left in the US with only 1 model left back home. Iím hoping that there will still be enough going on at that time, that I can re-build my fleet when I get back.

Darren,

I moved from the UK to the US in 1999 for an 18month work contract. 22 years later I'm still here, and haven't looked back.

One of the only things Iíve had done here is to have my European Jeti certified for use in the US. However, I havenít actually used it here (yet)!

There was talk of me taking up a contract in Canada after this one, but weíll see. Iíd be happy to stay here longer if that was an option.
